It was breakfast time and we were all gathered. My mother was holding Zephira, being the ever doting grandmother. I and my brothers talked and they even laughed. Nia and Violet were talking and getting along which was nice to see. Silver then came down, fully dressed. He then shocked me when he dropped a kiss on the top of Violet's head before sitting down beside her. It looks like they were finally getting along. Thank goodness. I thought I was gonna have to get them a get along shirt for them. I was about to take a bite of my food when suddenly Violet was up and behind Z, a rock wall up, the sound of an explosion shaking the room. Drac and my mother had quickly covered Zephira.
A second later, all the men were gone. There was another explosion, the chandelier shaking. "Violet, take Zephira somewhere, where no one can get close to her," I ordered as I stood. Violet nodded and took Zephira from my mother. Just as she was about to leave, spikes of Earth began to protrude throughout the room. I tackled Nia out of the way, and I got pinned while protecting her. Zephira was crying. "Violet," I snapped. "I'm pinned," Violet said then coughed. "Are you okay," Nia asked me softly. "I'm fine, are you," I asked her. "Can you teleport out," she asked me. "I don't know the state of the room, I don't want to risk it," I told her. I then felt her began to wiggle and scoot her way out from under me, allowing me to get to my knees to properly look around. It was hard to see anything. "You okay mom," I called out. "A little stuck," she told me with a slight groan. I went to look at Nia but she was crawling in the direction of Violet. I began to follow behind her and eventually we got to them. Violet was impaled, Zephira held above the spike. Blood was dripping from Violet's lip and pouring from her wound. I knew it wouldn't kill her, but she would be incredibly weak from the hit. "I see I missed a few," a male said from the entrance of the room. It was one of the Elders but he didn't look right. It looked like he was half human, half creature from the Tears.
"You made a huge mistake attacking my family," I told him, tapping into my second form. I used my staff to make the spikes disappear and I heard my mother and Violet drop to the floor. The room quickly filled with the scent of their blood. "I see you're truly something now," he said with a smirk before he disappeared. I turned in time to see him behind me, his fist slamming into my face. I was hit so hard I flew through the window of the dinning room, across the yard, and into the swamp. I got up and shook off the blow. He went to attack again, but Violet was there taking the hit from his fire strike. Her water turned it into mist, that he turned into a thick fog, making it hard for all who were fighting to see. More spikes were beginning to shoot about too fast for us to keep up with. Violet was impaled by three, all going through her stomach and chest area. She gasped in pain.
I looked around and saw many of the others were pierced through as well. More spikes began to sprout and I levitated out of the way. I then saw Jay run through, slamming his fists into each spike, causing it to crumble into dust. Vlad was darting about, ripping out their throats and hearts. Jaden was capturing as many as he could.
I caught movement to my right and turned in time for a spike to be headed straight for my face. Earth sprouted up, blocking it. I looked down at Violet who didn't have the strength to free herself, keeping an eye on me, protecting me. I was trying to channel my powers, for one swift blow, instead of wasting it in spurts. It was easier said than done.
When I was ready I changed to my third form and used my staff to summon a circle that took encompassed the entire area. When I activated it, the Elders began to scream as pink electricity began to absorb their souls. They dropped like flies until all but one was killed.
I released the circle and went back to the ground. I watched as Vlad turned his attention to the house to look for his mate, Talos going with him. Axel, Jay, and Silver were getting Violet free of the stakes. I bolted into the house to check on Zephira. Inside I saw Drako carrying my mother up the stairs, his trench coat covering her unconscious body. I continued on my search, finding Zephira downstairs in the safe room where Vlad, Nia, and Talos were. Two of the elders were dead by knife wounds. Zephira was crying on the bed in the safe room. I picked her up and turned to Nia. She was beaten really badly. Vlad brushed her hair from her face, "Darling..."He had trailed off, his voice sounding broken. "I know," she whispered. "I wanted to wait." She then brought her hands to her mouth and coughed, blood coating them. "Do it Vlad," she said to him. He stood with her and they were gone a second later.
"When we found her, she was barely standing, knife at the ready, to protect Zephira until her last breath. One of them had ended up breaking her ribs bad enough it pierced her lung," he told me. "He is gonna have to turn her in order to save the both of them." They were bound so if she died, he would too. He was ready to die if she didn't want to be turned into a vampire.
I looked at the two on the floor. "Get this trash out of my house," I told him before stepping over them. "Yes ma'am," he said with a bow of his head. I looked down at myself, at the blood splatter that was not mine, coating my clothes in several places. I then looked at my bright eyed daughter who was oblivious of what just happened. I laid her in the bassinet that was in mine and Z's room before grabbing my clothes to shower. I had just shut the top drawer of my dresser when Z rushed in. He inspected Zephira, before he inspected me. "You need to feed," He told me. "I'm fine," I whispered, my voice sounding exhausted. "You drained yourself using your abilities like that," he told me. "You're swaying on your feet."
He scooped me up into his arms and sat on the end of the bed with me. He leaned his head to the side, allowing me access to his neck. I bit into his neck and drank greedily. When I felt full I licked his wound closed.
"Nia," I whispered. He nodded, "Talos informed me." I nodded, and rested my head on his shoulder. "What the hell was that?" "I don't know, but I will find out," he said with a slight growl in his voice. He then stood with me in his arms, "Let's get cleaned up and get some rest." I couldn't agree more. Today was the beginning of a whole new chapter that had us going , what the fuck, without any instant answers. How the hell did the Elders become part thing from the Tear? It clearly increased the strength and speed of their abilities, but why? Questions Z will get the answers too from the one I left alive. Knowing our luck, they won't be very forth coming with the information. Good thing Z is very good at the art of torture. He may just dive straight into the torture as a punishment for putting Zephira in harm's way. At least I know one of them will get the death they truly deserved.
