(Y/n's POV)
I pick at my salad I had packed for dinner. I wasn't really feeling it if I were honest. I had about six hours left of my shift, and I wasn't with the rest of the world.
The breakroom was empty besides me and a sleeping Aria up on the top bunk. As I packed up my salad and slipped it into my lunchbox, the door creaked open. "Y/n?" I look over and smile at the sight of Taehyung. "You want to grab a coffee with me?"
"Sure, be right out." I put my lunch box back into my backpack and stuffed it into my locker. I walk out and shut the door quietly. "Everything okay?" I ask Taehyung as we walked to the coffee shop they kept in the cafeteria.
"Am I ok? Yes. Are you okay?" He asked and all I could do was shrug. "I heard about Duwon, I'm very sorry," He grabbed my hand and rubbed his thumb across it.
"It's all okay Tae, I'm going to be okay." I admit.
Taehyung nods his head. "Go find a spot, I'll order." I let go of Taehyung's hand and find a small table near the window and take a seat. After a few long minutes Taehyung found our table, setting my drink down. I giggle. "I thought you got coffee?" I asked Taehyung who had hot tea in his hand.
"I'm not a fan of coffee, but I think it's weird to ask if you'd like to grab a tea." We both laugh, maybe it was weird to ask for tea. Taehyung and I chat for awhile. A little bit about our lives outside of the hospital, such as Taehyung's divorce process. Then a little bit about my life, which was nothing special. After awhile it got quiet before Taehyung had asked why I was so close with Duwon and what brought me to get to know him.
I take a sip of my drink. "I'm not sure if you knew but I had a brother. He was seventeen when he began having heart problems for whatever reason, when they did the MRI they found a hole in his heart and claimed he wasn't going to make it. I called bullshit," I say with a laugh, Taehyung chuckling as well. "They put him on a ventilator like Duwon, but never put him in a coma. Him and I would talk for hours each day, I would be there from morning to night every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Until the day came when he was healthy enough for surgery. They operated for hours...I can't even remember how long I waited for them to be done with it. But after waiting for a few hours, I saw a few nurses rushing into the OR where he was being operated on, it was then that I knew he was gone. No nurse rushes down the hallway unless there is a medical emergency. The doctor then came out and broke the news, but I already knew. He asked if I would like to see him one last time and I refused. I didn't want to see him laying there, cut open and shit. I bowed in thanks before leaving the hospital, crying my entire way home..."
I look up to see Taehyung's eyes watering. "I- I have no idea what to say..." He said. I shake my head and grab his hands. "But I still don't understand-"
"Duwon was my brother's name, I guess I just find it weird how my Duwon came in on the exact day, eight years later after my brother did. I had talked to Duwon for a few hours when he was stable and I swore it was my brother in another body. He was so calm and full of himself just like him, had similar aspirations as he did and just...reminded me so much of him." I explain, Taehyung nodding. "Of course they were two different people, but when Duwon went into his medically induced coma I made it my mission to get him better, to get him home. Unfortunately that never happened..."
Taehyung stands from where he was and brings me into his arms. "I'm so sorry." I smack his back.
"Please, stop apologizing. It'll be okay, I'm going to be okay." I say, continuing to hug Taehyung. I look up to see the clock, noticing my dinner break had ended and I had to get back to work. "I love you, but I have to go. Thank you for the drink." I back away from the hug as Taehyung nods his head.
"I'll see you sometime tomorrow?" He asked. I nod as I left the cafeteria and back to the breakroom to grab charts. As I walk in Aria had just been waking up.
"Morning sunshine," Aria looks at me with tired eyes and waves. "Sleep good?" I ask. Aria nods her head, hopping off of the bunk bed.
She looks down at my hand that held my drink, grabbing it and taking a good swig before handing it back to me. "Ah," She exhaled. "Ooo that's good. What is that?" She asked. I hand it to her laughing.
"Not sure, Taehyung had gotten it for me. You can take the rest, I have to check on super star down the hall." I roll my eyes.
Aria laughs. "Good luck."
I grab Yoongi's chart and make my way to his room. *Knock Knock* "Yoongi?" I call. I walk in to see his manager sitting on the couch, his leg crossed over the other as he played some game on his phone. Looking over, I see that Yoongi was gone. "Where's Yoongi?" I ask, completely blanking on the fact that he had physical therapy.
"He went to physical therapy like...an hour ago," Seokjin said looking at the clock. I nod my head, setting the clipboard down and taking a seat. "Everything ok?" He asked. I look over and nod with a smile.
'He must be talking about earlier...how unprofessional of me to cry in front of a patron.'
"I'm fine, thank you. Just a tough day is all." I admit. Seokjin slips his phone in his pocket, both of us standing as we see the nurse wheel in a very tired looking Yoongi. "Good evening Yoongi, how was physical therapy?" I ask.
Instead of Yoongi answering, the nurse does it for him. "He did great. They had a good start and will begin the basics of applying pressure tomorrow." I nod in thanks, taking her spot to wheel Yoongi to the side of his bed.
After transferring Yoongi into his bed, I lift the blanket over his body. "I'm going to be taking your vitals so please stay awake as long as you can, after you may rest." Yoongi just nods his head.
Seokjin and Yoongi have their own side conversation as I take his temp, oxygen level as well as his pulse. Their conversation consisted of Yoongi's trainer becoming agitated that Yoongi was no longer exercising at an alarming rate, then getting onto the topic of how they might be able to catch/confront the person whom they believe drugged Yoongi.
I minded my own business, charted whatever vitals I needed and put away whatever I used. "Hey uh...Y/n? Was it?" Yoongi asked.
I turn around and smile. "Yes?" I never went by my last name, or Dr., seeing as I felt uncomfortable going by it. It was my choice anyway.
"Do you think if I were to be released by tomorrow, you'd be able to be my physician at my own home?" He asked. I was shocked, not sure if that was even legal to begin with. "I just, don't feel comfortable here. We could hire a physical therapist to come to my own home and do what they need to do but, would that be possible?"
I wasn't sure about the change of mood he had. One day he was pissed off at me the next he's asking me to basically live at his home to take care of him until he's healed. Was that legal? Would I still get paid?
"I'm not sure Yoongi, why don't you like it here? You've been here for what? 24 hours?" I say. Yoongi shrugs before Seokjin sighs and speaks up.
"He's afraid of being mobbed-"
"SEOKJIN!"
I giggle to myself. "I assure you nothing like that could happen here, you are safe here Yoongi." I assure. Seokjin raises a brow, then nudging his head towards the window in Yoongi's room. I shake my head, walking over to the window and opening the curtain, my eyes widening.
"Holy shit..." I whisper.
A crowd had been accumulating outside of the hospital, preferably outside of Yoongi's window. Although we were on a higher level, they still seemed to find his window with ease. "I'm sure they can't come in without being checked at the front counter but still, I think It'd be best to do this at Yoongi's home." Seokjin says.
I turn around and sigh. "Let me talk with my chief and see what I can work out. I'm not sure if I'll be the one going or if someone else will be assigned to you." I explain. Yoongi and Seokjin both nod as I left the room.
I groan. "Only five more hours left Y/n, you got this."
