june 29: holland, 25 weeks pregnant
i'm now 25 weeks pregnant and the babies are about the size of an eggplant! cameron and i have began to look for a house in the same neighborhood as our parents, it's crazy to think that we are getting ready to buy a house at 16 years old. i'm still a little scared to move out of my parents house, it feels so soon. i guess it's a different situation for us than for "normal" 16 year olds, we have twins on the way and need to learn to be independent. "holland," cameron pulls me out of my thoughts, "we're at the first house". i look at the house in front of us, it's really nice and very modern. i notice that it has 3 stories and the top two floors have balconies."this is awesome, cam." i say as i stare at the house in front of me, "it looks like the house of a famous youtuber!"
"yeah," cameron laughs, "it does."
the realtor shows us around the place. the modern theme continues inside, everything is clean and sleek. the kitchen has two ovens! the house has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms, the master bedroom is huge and includes a super nice walk in closet. "i'll need to go on a shopping spree to fill this closet if we buy this house!" i whisper to cameron.
"we'll see about that." cameron winks at me.
the fenced in backyard has a pool, hot tub, and a nice patio area for a grill and furniture. everything about this house is awesome, but the best part for me is the shower in the master bathroom, it is huge and actually has multiple shower heads. looking around the house, it almost feels like we are pretending, like we're just joking around and we know that we wouldn't be able to ever afford something like this. the weird thing, though, is that we can. in these past few months, since cameron has inherited millions, i haven't really processed how much money that it is, how rich my boyfriend really is. it still doesn't feel real and i still find myself worrying about money and how we are going to afford two babies, even though my baby daddy is an actual millionaire.
we looked at a few more houses after the first one but none of them had the immediate pull on me that the one standing right in front of me has. it is a teal blue and has almost a classic beach house type of vibe. the first floor consists of a two car garage and the stairs to the porch are off to its side. the main floor has a balcony that stretches across the front of the house and the top floor has a balcony off one room. palm trees sprout out on both sides of the house in landscaped nature areas. "i love this one already!" i smile at my boyfriend.
"i do too, and it's so close to the beach!" he smiles back. our realtor leads us up the stairs and unlocks the door to the house. the living room we walk into is bright and full of windows, the light hardwood floors extend into the kitchen and dining room. the kitchen has a beautiful white counters and cabinets, a huge island, and a glass door that opens to the backyard. there is a bathroom and office on the main floor as well. upstairs, there are three bedrooms and two more bathrooms. the master bed and bath are very spacious and big, yet cozy at the same time. the backyard has a deck, a pool, and a fire pit. i love it so much.
"and that's the tour! how did you guys like this one?" our realtor, cheryl, asks cheerily.
"i think it's awesome, i can't imagine anything topping this one for me." cameron says.
"that's great because this is actually the last one i have for you today." cheryl says, checking her clipboard.
"i love it as well, i could totally imagine raising our kids here!" i say, picturing our little girls running around the house.
"what's the asking price?" cameron asks with excitement in his eyes.
"450,000. for a new house in this location with all of the amenities, i'd say it's a great deal." cheryl says. the number worries me at first, until i remember cam's new bank balance. cameron looks at me as if he's asking if i think this is the one, i nod and smile.
"how soon can we buy?" cameron inquires with a huge smile on his face.
two hours later
i walk through the door of my house and plop down on the couch, exhausted from all the walking we have done today with my huge stomach. after he decided to buy the house, cameron called his parents and they helped him with the process. cameron is now officially a homeowner at 16. we will start the moving process in about two weeks.
"so," my mom enters the living room, "how did things go today?"
i smile, "cameron actually bought a house today."
"really?" my mom's eyes widen.
"yeah, it's actually perfect for us. i love it!" i sit up straighter, excited to talk about my future home.
"that's great, holl! i can't wait to see it." my mom smiles at me.
"we are actually going to start the whole moving process in about two weeks." i say while one of the twins kick, they must be excited about their new home.
"wow," my mom's smile falters a bit, "that's so soon. i can't believe my baby is moving out."
"i can't believe it either, it seems so crazy to be moving out at 16 but considering our circumstances i think it's probably the best option. i'm going to miss you guys so much." i say, tears threatening to spill out of my eyes, contrasting to my ecstatic mood just seconds earlier. these pregnancy hormones have my emotions jumping from one to another so quickly.
"we are going to miss you too, baby girl, but you better believe i'm going to be visiting all of the time." my mom wipes away a tear that had fallen down my cheek, "i know you'll be just fine, holland, you are an amazing young woman and cameron is an amazing young man, y'all will do great running a household."
"thanks, mama. the house is less than five minutes away from here so i'll be coming around a whole lot too!" i laugh.
author's note: cameron bought a house and it sounds beautiful! holland's mom is so sweet and supportive, don't you think? thank you for reading!
