Jess's POV*
I walked with Matt up to my school. I found out that Hayes was a sophomore in a high school that wasn't far from my house.
I gave Matt a hug as I went inside the school. I saw my friend Alex and I smiled and waved. He waved back.
Alex has been my friend for as long as I could remember. We first met back in the first grade. After that we became each others best friends. I was his best 'girl' friend and he was my best 'guy' friend. Alex was really tall, maybe 5"10. He has fluffy brown hair in a quiff, and he had golden caramel eyes.
I noticed everyone was kind of odd. All the guys seemed normal...but the girls seemed more riled up, well some of them at least. They had this weird pang of jealousy, in their eyes. It sent a bad vibe.
Out of no where, a group of 8th graders, who are in some of my classes come up to me. All of the girls having the most bitchiest look plastered across their caked faces. Then I realized that they were on the school cheerleading squad.
The girl that looked like she could be the leader of the squad came forward leaving her followers behind her. She flipped her shiny beach blonde hair to the side and walked up to be. She towered over me. Instantly I recognized her.
Her name was Rebecca Gilbert; she's basically your typical mean girl who thinks she runs the school just because she pushes people around. Me and her were always up against each other.
We were rivals who hated each other down to the core. Ever since she saw the opportunity to become 'queen' she tried to achieve it. After Matt forced me to step down from my social climbing she has been making the lives of the kids at school miserable.
"I need you to stay away from Mathew. He's mine and I don't want filth like you to rub off on him." She ranted, moving her hands close to my face. My mood went from having one of my good days to being in a bitchy mood myself. I was not one to be pushed around by those girls, especially Rebecca.
"How about you get out of my way before I decide to smudge your caked face with red. You wouldn't want blood to ruin your slutty shirt right? I think you've forgotten who I am Gilbert." I fought back standing my ground, crossing my arms.
Her eyes widened and her mouth gaped. She let out a exaggerating gasp, adding on to the drama.
The school knew me as the girl who was crowned, but then suddenly stepped down. Some people are still were scared of me.
Even though I never bullied people just for my enjoyment, they probably lived with the fear that one day I was going to end up being like Rebecca.
I noticed a crowd starting to form around us and just rolled my eyes. I awaited Rebecca's comeback but there was never one. So I continued to talk.
"So you think you can just come-" I was interrupted by a blow that left my nose throbbing. My head flew to the right. I stumbled to the ground, reaching my hands up to touch my throbbing nose.
I pulled my fingers back only to see them covered in warm blood. I looked up to see who punched me. It obviously wasn't Rebecca. Instead I was greeted by the dark angry eyes of Tyler. Tyler was Rebecca's new boyfriend, the only reason she's dating him is to get the extra boost of popularity.
"GO KILL YOURSELF BITCH!!!!!!YOU DON'T DESERVE TO BE RELATED TO MATHEW!!!!" Rebecca's obnoxious voice boomed, silencing the entire cafeteria full of the witnesses.
I sat there on the ground, holding my nose trying to stop the flow of blood. I tried to get back up only to be shoved back down by Tyler.
"Stupid bitch." He growled. My head hit the ground, making everything start to appear blurry. Rebecca knelled to where I was on the ground.
"This is for everything you did to me." She whispered menacingly. After that she hauled her silver purse filled with her books across my head. All I remembered is people yelling and everything slowly start to get dimmer and dimmer, until I was in complete darkness.
Matt's POV*
I was outside in the pool with the boys. Hayes just got home from school, while Nash and Cameron where dog pilling Carter and Shawn. Their screams were hysterical. I was layed across the pool seat enjoying the great weather.
My phone began to rang. I reached over a small table to grab my phone. The caller ID read my little sister's school. What the hell...
Instantly thinking she got in trouble my blood began to boil, can she not get in trouble anymore?! I angrily picked up and muttered an annoyed 'what' into the phone.
"Hello, is this Mathew Espinosa? Jess' older brother?"
"Yes this is him."
"Your sister has been knocked out, she was jumped by a group of girls and a young man. She is currently in the nurse's office. She is still unconscious, and has a concussion. We need you to make an appearance at the school now."
The wind was knocked out of me, my baby sister? Beat up, unconscious? What the fuck! I balled my fist and beat down on the glass small table near my chair, grabbing the attention of all the boys. I heaved my breath trying to calm down.
"I'll be right there." I said as I hung up my phone.
I ran a stressed hand through my hair. Gripping my glasses and throwing them across the yard. At this point all the boys stopped doing whatever they were doing and staring at me. Carter then spoke up.
"Yo, calm down, what the hell just happened?"
I explained what happened to Jess, and how she's currently not conscious, beaten up and dealing with a concussion.
Hayes' eyes widened, showing fear in his eyes. I looked at the ground covering my face. The anger was sizzling inside me. How could they beat up an innocent girl for no reason? Unbelievable.
"Stop wasting time and lets go! She needs us right now!" Shawn exclaimed, drying his torso with a towel and putting a shirt on. The other boys did the same as I paced around the patio waiting for them.
We all drove to Jess' school, where I saw a group of teenagers in the principle's office. I grit my teeth knowing that those were the group of people that beat up my little sister. My fist clench as I wait for the office lady to lead me to my sister.
We all walk in the small room where they were keeping her. Her head was wrapped and she had an ice pack on top of her head. her nose was bruised and looked like it was throbbing.
Instantly my anger turned into sadness as I saw her in this critical state. The boys all took seats across her bed while I sat down on the floor next to her bed. I grabbed her hand and pressed it to my mouth. Giving her light kisses.
It soon struck me the reason why they beat her up. My eyes welled up in tears.
It was because of me.
