IN THE FOREST PRIMEVAL
A SCHOOL FOR GOOD AND EVIL
TWO TOWERS LIKE TWIN HEADS
ONE FOR THE PURE
ONE FOR THE WICKED
TRY TO ESCAPE YOU'LL ALWAYS FAIL
THE ONLY WAY OUT IS
THROUGH A FAIRY TALE
My name is Catrina White of Maidenvale, and I'm sixteen. Maidenvale is a popular kingdom in the "Fairytale World," Camelot being the most popular kingdom.
My grandmother is Leticia White or "Snow White" of Maidenvale, one of the "Fairytale Big Three."
And yes, I know what you're thinking. That I'm some prissy damsel-in-distress who's only things on her mind are makeup, boys, and using makeup to impress boys.
But no. I'm much more than that. You see ever since I was five, my father, Robert of Maidenvale had been training me boot-camp-style to kick serious butt. He would teach me useful feats such as karate (I'm now a black belt), archery, fitness, cardio, weightlifting, kickboxing, tennis (not the most practical I know, but, hey, it's fun), running, climbing trees, camping, and various other things.
My grandmother doesn't approve of any of these things, but it's whatever, since she's also taught me EVERYTHING I need to know about Animal Communication, which will be useful when I transfer to a new school tomorrow.
This isn't just any school though. It's "The School For Good and Evil" and I'm attending there as a Good Spirit or an "Ever." Since my grandmother is one of the "Fairytale Big Three" I'm been confirmed a place since birth. My dad says that it's "a waste of time" and that I should use my "life-long" skills to pursue hunting and archery, or even just "can't she just run to the Woods using her skills and create her fairytale there?" That's what he said to my grandmother.
But what he doesn't understand is that it doesn't work that way.
You see, attending the school means an instant ticket to success. Running through the woods really isn't going to cut it, despite what my father thinks. Even though I've had over ten years of training, going to the school means I have instant access to spells, numerous textbooks, lifelong friends (hopefully!) and certified teachers even better than my grandma, and she's a certified alum.
Even though I've won science fair awards, am close to the top of the class, read tons of books in my lifetime to fill three libraries, and so on, I'm still yearning for more. Like the fact that I don't fit in at my school, Maidenvale High. While most of the girls, whether commoners or princesses, wear glitzy dresses or preppy skirts, I rock up to school wearing a cool tee, leather jacket, edgy skirt or ripped jeans, and combat boots. Yeah, I'm not your typical princess. Deal with it.
Regardless, even if I was a follower and dressed like everyone else, they would still mock me. Like "oh, how come she's a GIRL and she has muscles?" or "oh, how come she's a GIRL and claims that she doesn't need a boy to rescue her?" So on and so forth. But I'm not going to drone on. I have a great dad, a cool grandma, an amazing palace as my home, and so on.
