Hazel's head was resting on Sirius' lap, as she read aloud a book Sirius had bought her while he was in town last week. Time had been passing by extremely slowly, Dumbledore was sending the group of three on fewer and fewer missions. Sirius was told by Lily to check up on Peter soon, as he had been rather distant lately, and was planning on doing it later on in the week.

Life was boring. They rarely got to visit James, Lily and Harry, and Hazel lost a bet to Remus, losing her trampoline privileges for the week. So, she took to repainting her room, then Sirius', and eventually convinced Remus to repaint his as well. Once that was done, life was boring again. Hence, reading out loud to Sirius.

November was coming up shortly, which at one point meant Quidditch matches and lots of studying for last minute exams before holiday break. Now, it was just a month, another month that would be wasted away with the war.

"Hey-" Sirius interrupts Hazel mid sentence, twirling her hair around his finger. "Can I ask you something?"

Hazel places her book down on her chest and looks up at Sirius. "Shoot."

"How you felt about James all those years-"

"Bloody hell Sirius-"

"Just hear me out Hazel. How you felt about him all those years, do you think you'll ever feel that way about somebody else?" He asks, Hazel tilting her head at him.

"Well, I certainly hope so. Merlin knows I'm one step closer after getting Dylan out of my life," Hazel jokes, earning a small laugh from Sirius, "Why do you ask?"

Sirius glances up for a moment, noticing Remus leaning against the kitchen doorway, sipping some coffee as he gives Sirius a thumbs up.

"I think I've held this in long enough then.. Do you maybe want to go out? You and me?" Sirius asks, causing Hazel to quickly sit up, staring at Sirius in what seems to him shock.

"Like a date?" Hazel asks, smiling. "I'd be happy to."
