chpt 19

Todoroki POV

He had slowly grown to hate the other male, out of envy. He envied the way he was able to hang out with her without feeling the heavy weight of guilt. He had gone to All Might after school, All Might was rather weak when it came to his students so when he asked about Musarame All Might actually became harder to persuade to give him information. But when he found out everything, he felt immense shock and guilt, he knew his dad wanted to create a powerful hero. But to go As far As to take an unknown child as a backup plan.

But at the same time it explained the way she had acted when they first met. She had probably been unaware of how to interact around him. He'd been wanting to ask but each time it seemed the further they separated. He couldn't bare to look at her without thinking about what his father had made her go through. During the sports festival and with stain her quirk proved to be powerful. He understood why people could fear it but he couldn't help but feel pity for this girl. A girl who could've had a normal life, a loving family but ended up getting caught up in a mess she didn't even know.

No. It wouldn't have changed the fact that even with or without Endeavor in her life. She would've still suffered with someone else. He paused already out of the school grounds, he glanced toward the city.

"Fuck it..", he murmured as he ran towards it, he would protect her, he would make it up to her.

You POV

Just like Shinso had said that place had amazing milkshakes. You enjoyed the time together but the tension from before wasn't gone entirely. He smiled and spoke but their seemed to be some sort of restraint in his voice. They found themselves in a nearby book store, you'd been wanting to get something to read at home. Shinso stood nearby, as he skimmed through some manga.

"Shinso...,"you whispered called to him

He hummed in response not looking up from the manga in his hands.

"Are You mad at me?", you asked, he froze and seemed to look into space,"Shinso."

"No I'm not mad, what makes you think that?", he asked as he placed the manga back on it shelf

"It's a hunch, but you seem angry", You stood up, placing a hand on his shoulder.

"I am angry", he spoke out,"I am angry at you and Todoroki."

You tensed up,"Was because of the way Todoroki forced you to talk to me?"

"No...it's...", he motioned to your hand still on him,"It seems you forget sometimes, I am a guy. I'm your friend but sometimes I wish...", he huffed, shaking his head he stepped back letting your hand fall,"Is it todoroki or me?"

You paused perplexed at the question, you'd never been in situations like this. So you were at a loss for words. What would be a proper response to that?

"Never mind. I'll wait outside", he muttered scratching his head as he stepped out

You stared after him. Choose between him and Todoroki...why? I can't choose between my two guy friends-"It seems you forget sometimes, I am a guy-" You blinked slowly as realization hit, your cheeks burned up. You quickly played for your books, outside the shop Shinso was nowhere to be seen.

You glanced around the street, in case he was standing nearby but you were unable to see him. Your heart sank, did he abandon you, without so much as a goodbye?

"Musarame!", a voice called out you turned around in surprise,"Todoroki?"

He approached you,"So this is where you went?"

"Yeah, me and Shinso but it seems he's left", you mumbled,"What are you doing here?"

"I had to buy something, on the way here I ran into Shinso he seemed in a hurry", he replied,"Are you heading home?"

"You saw Shinso?", you asked quickly.

"Yeah he asked me to come pick you up", He explained.

A sense of relief washed over you. So he isn't mad, it was probably an emergency.

Shinso POV

Why did he have to go and say those things. He didn't hate Todoroki to be honest but it ticked him off how he didn't act on the emotions he obviously had.

He's making me think I have a chance. Even after asking her to choose, he soon realized how selfish he sounded and stupid. He waited outside, but even getting some fresh air he knew her answer wasn't going to be him even if she didn't know it yet.

Pulling out his phone he dialed a number.

"Hey, it's me Shinso", he spoke into the phone.

"How did you get my number?" The voice on the other side asked

"Deku gave it me, anyway do me a favor. Musrame is alone in downtown city bookstore.", he gritted his teeth ,"Walk her home."

Silence followed this," Why aren't you walking her? I know you wouldn't want me near her."

"Because..", he sighed annoyed,"Its not me she needs ok?! Dammit I'm not admitting defeat but right now I shouldn't be near her."

"It's not what you think buf I'll go to her, only because I don't want her feeling alone-", he was caught off.

"Dont make me laugh. Let me ask you something are you doing this for you? Or for her?", he hung up and shoved his phone into his bag angry at everything.

Todoroki POV

After having received that call, he was left thinking. Was he doing it for himself or for her? Was he being kind to her out of self guilt or because he genuinely wanted to? His mind raced with many self doubting questions but stopped when he spotted her, she stood still glancing around but with her back to him. He stopped she seemed so far away, almost like there was something that was purposely keeping them apart.

Musarame...I can't reach you but would you turn to me if I called your name?

"Musarame!", he called out, for a second he doubted she heard him until she turned around.

"Todoroki?"

She turned around.
