Edited.

I was awaken from my dreamless sleep by the sound of my blaring alarm clock.

Damn.

Can't a girl get a few more minutes of sleep.

Grumpily-if that's even a word- I get out from under the warm covers and sloppily make my way to the bathroom. After a quick shower, I brush my teeth then make my way to my room to pick out my outfit for the day.

After getting dressed and tying my hair up into a French braid, I walk to my table that has a cute ballerina jewellery hanger placed neatly on it.

A smile instantly makes its way onto my face when I see my beautiful charm bracelet. Every time I see it my heart flutters. Who knew that a simple yet romantic gesture could do that to me?

I pick up the beautiful piece of jewellery and slip it onto my wrist.

"I wonder who will be joining us today." I whisper to my 3 charms. Just thinking about the adventure that is yet to come makes me 10 times happier.

"It's time to leave Juliet! Hurry up!" Kate shouts from downstairs. I grab my bag and make my way downstairs. Last night I messaged Noah and told him that he didn't have to pick me up today so that I could spend some more time with Kate. I haven't seen her much this week.

"Let's go." Kate says from behind me, giving me a small fright.

Once I'm able to breathe again, I make my way to Kate's black Audi. I really love her car. I'm a huge fan of sports cars.

"Don't you have a class today?" I ask.

"Yep, but only this afternoon."

"Lucky." I mutter under my breathe. We soon lapse into an uncomfortable silence. Normally we are comfortable in each other's presence but something seems to be off. When I turn to look at her, I see her looking way too concentrated on the road but what bothers me are the emotions I see flash through her eyes.

Guilt and disappointment

"Hey Kate. Are you okay?" I ask quietly.

"I'm perfectly fine." She replies but doesn't take her eyes away from the road. What's with everyone hiding things from me? I stare intently at her face to see if I can get more information but come up blank.

Before I look away, Kate flashes me a small smile. Instead of conveying a message of happiness, the smile comes across almost as an apologetic smile. Why would she be sorry?

Before I can question her further, she pulls up at my school. Deciding to investigate later, I kiss her goodbye and make my way to the doors of hell.

As I walk towards the school building, I'm completely lost in my thoughts about Kate's odd behaviour that I bump into someone. Being the clumsy mess I am I trip over my own two feet, sending me crashing to the ground. But before my face formed part of the concrete floor, strong arms catch me around my waist and slowly lift me up. When I turn around, I see that the strong arms belonged to Jared. I blush and looked down, brushing imaginary dust off of my top.

When I look up, Jared was looking at me with a sly smirk. "Couldn't wait to see me hey?"

With mock disgust, I reply, "If I knew that you were going to be the first person I see this morning, I would have stayed in bed."

Dramatically, he clutches his heart in mock hurt. "You wound me Jules. You should be on your knees, thanking me for saving your life a few moments ago."
