Elise's POV

Damn it!

This was the third time I had to restart on this stupid ass drawing. And even worse, I'm running out of charcoal pencils. I'll have to go into town tomorrow to pick up more, as well as some oil pastels.

Setting down my sketchbook, I got up to get some food since I missed dinner after work.
I searched a couple times through the fridge and pantry before settling on some grapes. Too lazy to get a bowl, I grabbed as many as I could fit in my arms before creeping back up to my room before my mom starts asking me questions again.

Once I get back up to my room I put on a random Disney movie and flop down on my bed with my grapes, passing out about halfway through the movie...

THE NEXT DAY • DAY OF THE PARADE

I wake up to my mother dropping pans in the kitchen, not the best way but better then the weird dream I was having about cultists in the ancient days of Ireland.

I quickly get dressed is some jeans and a loose sweater before grabbing some money from my side table and going to the kitchen to get something to eat real quick.

I'm not even halfway through the door before my mom starts to lecture me already. It's honestly too early for this.

"Where are you going? I though we were going to stay inside today? I though you had work off, why are you leaving?"

It astounds me how she manages to get all of those questions out in one breath day after day.

I let out a quiet sigh, deciding to just respond quickly so she won't work herself into a worry.

"I'm just going to go into town to pick up some charcoal pencils and oil paints, I'm running out", she starts to turn around and her face looks worried as she opens her mouth to say no. "I'll come home right after, I have to go today because I work late for the rest of the week," I rush the words out hoping I look as desperate as I sound and she'll take pity on me.

It must work because she pursed her lips and nodded briefly at me before turning back to her tea.

I throw on my running shoes and hop out the door before she decides to change her mind. I can always just get food on the way.

She shouts something to me about avoiding the square as I shut the door.

As I walk I wonder what she meant. There are two squares in town, the Main Square and Madison Square, but they are on opposite sides of town so I'd have to take a guest as to which one she meant.

The Main Square was where most people went through and where we held most of our festivities and parades. And as for Madison Square, I hadn't been there all that much, I knew it's closest to pack borders though. She probably meant Madison, I don't know my way around there all too well and I DO get lost extremely easy, plus she'll do anything to keep me away from the pack.

I turn right on Athenian Ave and make my way towards the square Paket's Paints and Crafts store is at the edge of the square so it should take no time at all to get my supplies.

Rushing slightly, I reach the square in no time and see a large gathering of people in the center all clamoring about for a look at something. I feel drawn to the group, probably out of curiosity, my neighbors tend to keep to themselves so seeing them all together is quite the sight. I suppose one look wouldn't hurt that much...
