~ Elise's POV ~
After gathering my supplies I made my way to the register to pay. I didn't make much as a waitress, but I made enough to afford my art supplies and a few other guilty pleasures.
I remember when I first tried to convince my parents to let me get a job. They were so paranoid about me being out around werewolves without them that they took a week off work to sit me down and drill me with their and the states rules on weres. The states laws were pretty simple and mainly revolved around discrimination and fighting (seeing as there was an obvious power imbalance between humans and werewolves). My parents rules, however, were a tad bit lengthy...
1- Don't talk with a werewolf for longer then 3 minutes unless required to by school, work, or the law.
2- Stay clear of the pack territory on the outskirts of town, and any highly populated were communities, including the woods.
3- ALWAYS carry a silver ring on your person in case of emergency, and if anyone asks or get upset say it is a family heirloom.
4- Under no circumstances, short of extreme bodily harm to you or someone else, challenge an Alpha or a Beta.
5- NEVER start a fight with a were on personal vendettas or offenses.
There are nearly 13 more rules, all revolving around the dangers of communicating with and interacting with Alphas and Betas. In addition to this, I also had to take human self defense classes. Werewolves have 3 main weak spots, their ears (a good wack in the head offsets their sensitive hearing), their eyes (werewolf or not an eye gouging hurts like a bitch), and lastly their neck (once they reach puberty it gets extra sensitive as a result of needing their mate to mark them).
I was brought out of my not-so-fond memories when I heard a loud possessive growl from behind me.
