~ Jason's POV ~

As soon as I turned around and didn't see her, I raced towards the front doors or the store.

As I burst into the crowded street I tilted my head towards the sky in an attempt to find my mates scent through the thick smell of humans in the square. As I zeroed in on her honey and chamomile smell I could feel Jax let out a possessive growl at the thought of being able to finally hold our mate.

Weaving desperately through the crowd she came into view as she ducked around the corner and into the all human housing district, she was moving too fast. At this pace I wouldn't be able to catch her before she reached the gates of the housing unit. Freaking out at the thought of losing out mate, Jax quickly tore to the surface of my brain and forced us to shift.

What in the fuck are you doing right now
I screamed out to him in our mind but he was having no part of it, racing at new speed to our mate before tackling her to the ground.

As she let out a small yelp at the sudden contact, Jax slide part of his body under hers to cushion the fall before he moved to stand above her...

~ Elise's POV ~

After hearing that growl rip through the air I picked up the pace slightly. I did not want to get in the middle of a territorial dispute between any of the werewolves.

I was almost home when I was tackled to the ground. I yelped out as the air left my body, I braced for a hit that didn't come. Another body was under mine supporting my body from the fall. The body shifted out from under me dropping me gently onto the ground as a huge grey wolf moved to tower over me.

He stood still above me, moving all over my face to look at me, before meeting my eyes. Despite the mans animal form, he looked so happy, you could see it in his eyes.

I wonder why he was happy? He was probably happy I was ok. That had to be it, he was messing around and knocked me over and he was happy he didn't hurt me. The assault rate for humans by weres is low in this area mainly if not solely because of how high the penalty for it was. He was probably happy he didn't hurt me so I'd have no reason to press charges.

I slowly pushed myself onto my elbows and used my arms to shimmy out from under him. He watched me while I moved, probably looking for any other places he could have damaged. But honestly even if he had hurt me I probably wouldn't have reported it, it was probably an accident anyway.

"It's- Its ok." God damn it Elise, again with that stupid ass stutter. I took at deep breath in and looked back at him, he looked confused so I went to clarify.
"For the hit, I mean. You didn't hurt me and I know it was probably just a- an accident. I know assault penalties for this area are high so I wouldn't even think of reporting you just for an accident."

I was wary of his movements as I brushed the dirt off my jeans. He tilted his head to the side, he almost looked confused. Soon after he seemed to perk up though. He made his way towards me quicker than I had time to move away from and grabbed the edge of my hoodie in his teeth. Pulling gently he guided me to the edge of the housing districts and over to a park near the woods.

He released my hoodie and bounced over to the tree line. I assumed he was going to shift, I was curious about how it worked but I had never seen it seeing as weres came back naked after the shift. My mom said it was a god send when the pack declared they would be setting up clothes stations around the edges of the woods and territory, werewolves may be used to public nudity but the towns people certainly weren't.

But the question is, why did he need to shift? I told him I was ok and that I wouldn't press charges, so what was the need to try and talk with me?

My train of thought was broken by a warm body coming into contact with mine as, for the second time today, I was tackled. This time into a hug.
