Today is a rainy, miserable day. Pouring rain dampens my lively, red curls and puts out any fiery, happy energy I can conger. Shivering under my broken umbrella, I hurry across the school grounds towards the canteen where a peculiar sight stops me. In the middle of the field, he stands alone. His arms are outstretched like Christ the Redeemer. His face is to the sky, eyes closed relishing the rain.

I huff in disbelief. If anyone can enjoy the misery of the rain it would have to be Dylan.

Glancing around to check that no one is around, I raise my hand high in the air and channel all my will and warmth into the sky, urging the sun to appear from behind the dense cloud. Slowly the bright sun emerges, shining rays of warm light onto my glistening skin.

As the rain finally ceases, I look out across the field and meet the glare of Dylan with a smirk and yell: “That’ll teach you not to rain on my parade!”
