"Amara Abebe...pronunciation Amara Uh-bay-bay...seems accurate. The first name because she's going to become a kind and intelligent girl. The last name fits because I know she is going to blossom into a beautiful, grown woman one day" she explained exhaustedly with her Ethiopian accent.
In the last 48 hours in the hospital was restless and painful but was worth it in the end due to the successful birth of her baby girl. Difficulties were possible but she managed it with the help of her husband, Jafari.
He sighs heavily, "Woah, I wasn't the one giving birth but I'm screaming my head off in the room" he chuckles. She looked up at him then at the little bundle of joy in her arms smiling. It was like she was in a daze because at that moment, her baby's doctor walks in smiling widely, ready to answer any questions that are thrown at him.
Coming close to discharge, the doctor briefly explained the basic information of their baby's first exam that will take place in the nursery or at her side. As that was being said, she turned to look at her baby's brown eyes and sings quietly while lightly kissing her forehead.
(Chorus)
And you light up my life
You give me hope to carry on
You light up my days
And fill my nights with song
No doubt Whitney Housten (R.I.P) was her favorite singer. She always sings this during her pregnancy days carrying Amara so it can calm down her baby's kicks. Everything was going perfect, she never thought things would go differently before her daughter's third birthday.

The Abebe's Household
Rain Drops.
Drip.
Drop.
Drip.
Drop.
One after the other, landing onto the small, rusty hopper window that she looked out of every day. It poured so heavily, she couldn't even hear her thoughts. The smell of musty odor from years of piled up mold filled the air as she was unfazed by it, due to her living in there her entire life. Yes that's right, no friends, no job, no outdoor activities, no nothing, only limited air supply, food that remained on the ground for days but she only goes out of her bedroom to use the bathroom.
Sad? Yeah I know, part of this trouble is because her father, who has access to everything in the house, has lost his mind. He only comes to bring her food that she is allergic too or to throw hateful words, in which she tuned him out completely but yet it still affected her. In other words, he completely destroyed her from the inside out. Since her mother died from Terminal Illness, all that she got from her relatives from both her father's and mother's side were now taken into his possession. No technology, no social life, only a single bed, and limited clothes.
'What can I do to get out of this life I'm living in?' she thought to herself before shutting her eyes from the lack of sleep.
