Vera the Dragon Hybrid

a little insight on my life

Vera's P.O.V

I was currently basking in the sun on the roof of some random house in my dragon form. The feel of the sun on my skin was absolutely amazing. Just like how we all used to be every evening my mind remembered. It immediately turned my joyful mood into a sour expression. My family were no more. I wanted to cry but I cried enough over that and I don't think I have any tears left for that purpose. I've reliased that crying won't help and if I wanted to survive I would have to forget about it to be happy and alert. That thought didn't stop my mind from replaying that fateful day again.

Flashback

It was a Saturday and we had just finished everything and we're relaxing in our dragon forms outside of our cave. We had chosen to live in a cave as opposed to a house because my dad said it was better since he was the dragon king or something along that line. I still don't know what he meant other than the fact that a king is a type of leader. Anyways we were laughing and talking in our dragon language when suddenly my father(Zephonan) told our mom(Nianna) to hide us inside. I was very young then around 5 and my five other siblings being as follows:
Selena(13), Ava(10), Cheston(28), Liam(29) and Willan(32)

I could understand that everyone went into a state of panic. Mom told us to go inside immediately and she asked Selena to take me and Ava and leave now. I didn't know why we had to leave at that time but I didn't have time to think about it because the next minute the place was flooded with men who shot spells at us quickly. I didn't recall anything else other than hearing my dad swearing that I would be alive and they will join me and my sisters soon. The men laughed at this and my brothers screamed bye while moving from spells. The next thing I knew was that I was in the sky and my sister was sobbing. I didn't ask what the matter was until we landed after a long flight. She stopped by a beautiful lake and I asked what was wrong. She cried and said that she didn't get to Ava in time, that she of the men had already got her. She explained that she'll take care of me and make me happy and that when the time came I will she my other family members in a beautiful place. I liked all my siblings so I didn't mind her taking care of me. She told me I was special and she'll always care for me.
The place was beautiful and we lived there for three(3) years in peace. During that time she thought me how to survive in the wild and hide from dangerous people. She explained that if I wanted to move forward in life I'll have to not trust anyone as soon as I reach them(though this wasn't a problem as since I moved here I never trusted anyone so she didn't have to say). She also said that I must learn to control my abilities to the best I can and don't use my powers for evil. She explained that I would someday be responsible for the lives of many.

One day I came back from playing in the nearby Forest and found the place deserted. It felt lonely and when I entered I didn't see my sister. I saw only a note that she wrote hurriedly and sat down to read it.

Dear Vera,

Remember I told you mom and dad and the rest of our family will be in a beautiful place and one day you'll see them... Well I'm going to have to go with them. I really wish I could change date but I guess not. Promise me you'll stay safe and keep a look out for weird signs and don't stay in one place too long. The bad men that were there with Mom and Dad that day are looking for you. They tracked us down and thought I was alone so please stay safe baby. I love you. Plz don't cry stay strong. I've got to go.

I held back tears when I finished the letter. I tried to comprehend everything she said. I just couldn't understand why those men were after us. I did however understand that if they were it wouldn't be safe to stay here. I packed everything I'll need and placed the letter in my pocket. I flew off and landed after I was exhausted. I didn't know where I was but I was hungry and thirsty. Thankfully I had shrunk my belongings and they are in my pockets. I changed into my human once I know I wasn't seen and wandered the streets looking for food. Someone came up to me and she looked old. She asked if I was hungry and needed a place to stay or if I needed to find my parents. I told her my parents were dead and she told me to follow her. She lead me to a building and I followed her in. There was a desk and the woman behind asked me many questions about my family. I just responded by saying I don't remember and she lead me to a room. That's how I ended up in a muggle orphanage. I didn't need a week to know I hated that place. After a month it became unbearable and I escaped one night in my dragon form. I flew far and landed on a roof. So begins my lonely journey sleeping on persons rooves with an invisible charm on me so no one will see me. I slept in my dragon form and got food by hunting around in my human form- invisible. I'm not dishonest so I leave the money on the stands. I figured I was in London. New places to discover everyday. I spent three years here in London since I liked it.

Flashback ends

Next two days will be my 11th birthday, the age in which magical children here start school. I know because I'm a good spy. I wonder if I'll get accepted. Maybe not. I'm not getting my hopes up, no one wants a dragon in their school. I sighed before deciding to call it a night. We'll see what happens. I close my wings around me and drifted off to sleep.
