Chapter 16

 Thank you all for being so patient. Hopefully my grammar isn't that bad and it's not too confusing. I've gotten most of my exams done for the end of the year. They were very grueling, but thankfully the most important ones are done. But the bad thing is that I can tell you that I totally failed my math exam soooo... Guess I have to change my career path now. ಥ_ಥ Anyway, please enjoy!

"(Y/n), it has come to my attention that their attacks have gotten much more numerous since you have started protecting Naruto,"The Hokage stated, looking grave as he handed a folder to her, the scent of his fear was strong. He had decided that niceties were not needed for this meeting, starting it right of the bat with the bad news. "Now, it's not just predominantly in our nation, but in others as well. I want your opinion."

Opening the folder, (Y/n) quickly read over the papers inside. It was true. According to the statistics on the pages for the surround nations, vampire attacks had gone from nonexistent to once every few months, then to at least once every month. They seemed to be slowly encroaching onto the other hidden villages.

"I see,"she hummed. "They've begun to branch out into the other nations. How interesting... They must have been riled up in some way since my mission."

The Hokage nodded solemnly, slightly slouching in his chair. "As you noted when you came back, they were barely starting to go after the jinchuriki without any way of tracking them."

(Y/n) nodded, throwing the folder back onto the desk. If it wasn't for the fact that she had memorized Kurama's scent, she wouldn't have been able to tell that Naruto had him sealed inside. The seal on the jinchuriki, made it quite hard to tell the difference between a human with a beast and a regular one. That is why vampires were very cautious about approaching humans, but now it seems they needed the jinchuriki for a reason unknown. Dragging a hand through her hair, the supposed pre-teen exhaled deeply.

"They must have received some new information about their locations and that's why they're making their moves now."

"The question is from who,"the old man concluded. Getting up from his seat, he turned to face the windows. Down below his office, citizens walked around calmly, completely unaware of the dire events happening just outside their borders. He could wish all he wanted, but the nightmare was real. They were facing a threat from one of the most feared beings who had practically become myths after all these years of inactivity.

"I'm pretty sure it's that group of S-class rogue ninjas,"(Y/n) spoke up from right next to him, nearly startling the old man. He hadn't even noticed her presence or when she had traveled from the chair to his side. "What did he say they were called?"she pondered almost mockingly. "Oh that's right the Akatsuki."

Sighing deeply, he glanced back to the girl who was watching him intently. He knew she was egging him on, but he did not give her the satisfaction of a retort. "From now on (Y/n),"he said curtly,"you will not let Naruto out of your sight. I understand you've been very lax and have had other missions in which you leave him to his own devices, but now you must devote yourself to protecting him. We cannot let him fall into their hands, nor those of the Akatsuki."

The girl raised a brow at his avoidance of the use of her race's name. Just as always, he was ignoring it rather than facing it head on. No matter how many years had passed, he had only spoken the name twice to her as if it was a taboo. Narrowing her eyes, (Y/n) gave the old man a harsh look before conceding to his demands. The meeting ended and that was that. On her way out of the Hokage's office, she passed Iruka who had a worried look on his face.

"What's got you so worried, hm?"she asked, a tad bit amused at how he flushed.

Stiffening up, Iruka chuckled nervously as he answered. "Well I just wanted to ask Lord Hokage about Naruto's group leader since today is their assessment."
