Chapter 3- 𝔰𝔱𝔯𝔞𝔫𝔤𝔢𝔯𝔰 𝔫𝔬𝔱 𝔩𝔬𝔳𝔢𝔯𝔰

4 years later

"Chris, can you help me ?" I asked and pointed at the zipper behind me as he was putting on his cuff links.

He smiled before he walked over to me and slowly zipping it up and left a kiss on my shoulder. "You ready?" He asked and I nodded.

We then went to the car having me and Chris both sitting at the backseat since we had the driver bring us to the event.

It's the 5th anniversary of my mom and Donna's company. My mom wanted me to invite Chris since he one of our biggest investors.

To be honest I feel nervous, I feel like something will happen later but I'm setting my worries aside because I am there to support my mom.

"We're here" Chris opened the door for me and helped me get out, there were a lot of people outside and I'm sure there's more inside.

I look around to find mom so I could tell her that Chris is here. It's been 4 years and there's no sign of Maihua, I've decided to just move on and love again.

Yes, I let myself love again. Chris was there for me, there were times that I remember Maihua and I would just have breakdowns, he comforted me. He was a friend to me and my mom did support us.

"Y/N!"

I look over to who called me and made me smile. I approached my mom and Chris is following behind me.

"Mom Chris is here" I said and my mom smiled as she saw him, "I'm glad you can make it" My mom said.

The event started by Donna giving an opening speech, we were all sitting on the table and my mom is busy talking business with the guests as I saw a familiar figure at one of the tables near the catering.

She stood up to get food and I stood up as well to get a closer look. Once I got there and saw her I felt my heart drop.

"M—"

"Maihua, your phone is ringing" A girl said and she took the phone and went out.

I cannot believe what I saw, the girl called her Maihua so... so I'm not seeing things, it is Maihua. After all these years she finally showed up.

I followed her outside and as soon as got there she hanged up the call.

"Maihua?" I asked feeling nervous.

She turned around to look at me but when I saw her reaction, she's emotionless, it's like she doesn't know me.

"Maihua, it's me Y/N" I said and tears started to form in my eyes. I was waiting for her response when her phone rang again.

"I'm sorry I need to take this" She said as she went a little further away from me but I could still see her. There's no way she can't be Maihua but she doesn't know me?

"Y/N, what are you doing here?"

I turned around to see Gaonha, "I've been looking for you"

"Gaonha it's Maihua" I said as I turned around to point at Maihua but no one is there. "Where?" Gaonha asked.

"Sh-she was just there" I said in confusion.

"Let's get inside Y/N, you're probably just tired" Gaonha said as she took my arm to go inside as I was still looking around for any signs of Maihua.

We got back to our seats and I look over to Maihua's table but she isn't there, although the girl who handed her phone is there so probably she knows something.

I went over to the girl, "excuse me, may I talk to you?" I asked and she stood up.

"You know Maihua?" I asked and she nodded.

"Oh well uhm, do you know her phone number?" I couldn't wait but ask that right away. "I'm sorry I can't really give you her phone number" she replied.

"Oh uh.. can I get your name?" I asked.

"It's Sandra, her secretary"

Somehow I felt relieved hearing her answer, it's probably because I'm worried if Maihua has a new girlfriend or something.

"J- just a secretary?" I asked

"This is kind of getting weird but yes I'm just her secretary" she said and started to look annoyed with me.

"Look I really need her number, I'm actually her gir-"

"Sandra can you tell the driver to get the car already"

I looked to whoever said that it's Maihua, "Maihua, c-can I talk yo you?"

"She's actually asking for your phone number" Sandra whispered and Maihua nodded.

"I'll take care of this" Maihua said and Sandra walked right away.

"So.. can I talk to you?" I asked and she nodded.

I was about to ask something when the host called me for my speech, I almost forgot my mom wanted me to give some inspiring words.

"I think that's important" Maihua said

"Look it will just be a sec" I said as I quickly took the mic from the host.

I started reading the speech that I saved on my phone but then I noticed Maihua is about to exit the door and I couldn't help but stop.

"I'm sorry, I just really need to go" I said before I gave the mic back to the host and went down the stage to run after Maihua.

By the time I got out, Maihua is already in her car driving away from me.

I just don't understand, how does she not know me?? She decides to show up after 4 years and acts like nothing happened??

We're now back at home, I'm currently living with Chris. I was staring at the mirror looking at myself and what happened earlier kept replaying in my head.

"You okay?"

I didn't notice that Chris is already out of the shower and he only has a robe around him. "I know what would make you feel better"

He sat behind me and started leaving kisses behind my neck, I then shrugged "I'm not in the mood Chris"

I stood up and went out in the balcony. I need air and I need answers to the questions running in my head right now.

"It's Maihua isn't it" Chris said as he leaned on the door to the balcony.

"You're still thinking about her"

"Chris I'm so—"

"No need to say sorry, I understand" He said before he went back in. I felt really bad, I saw the pain in his when he said that.

I followed him inside to give him what he wants. After everything he's given me and helped me with, the last thing I want to happen is him getting hurt.
