mike was all y/n wanted, but he didn't think he deserved her love. she was somebody else's in mike's mind and he didn't want her to regret her decision to be with him.
she would constantly try to be friends with him but he would just shrug her off. he wanted her but he was afraid she wouldn't like him.
y/n caught him walking home one day after school. she tugged on his polo and smiled that stupid smile that he loved so much. "can i talk to you?" she bit the inside of his lip and he agreed, dragging her inside his house and into the basement.
they sat on the campaign table across from each other. "i like you, mike." she didn't hesitate before looking at him with hope. he gulped hard.
y/n belongs with him.
"give me reasons." "reasons for what?" "give me reasons why we should be complete."
she was confused and hurt at how fast he rejected her. words couldn't form and mike looked at her with a knowing look. "you should be with him, i can't compete."
months later, they were friends. y/n had gotten over her massive crush on him, but seen the tables turned and mike had eleven. mike still liked y/n. it was a disaster.
they were sitting in the same position they were seven months ago, at the campaign table.
"give me reasons." her face lost its colour. "y/n, don't pull this on me. plea-" mike urged her to not pull the same thing that he had all those months ago, yet she still did. "give me reasons we should be complete. you should be with el. i can't win you. i can't compete." he felt stupid for ruining their friendship, knowing that this would ruin them.
"and i don't want to go into this blindly. it's like- slow dancing in the dark!" her words stuck him in the heart like a dagger. mike heard her leave the room.
their feelings had messed up everything. they were each other's bestfriends, being there when one fell and knowing how they felt by their tones.
it was a stupid mistake. they shut each other out for three months, they were doing so great; until eleven broke it off with mike.
