lose it by swmrs
she sat at her desk, composing a mixtape for a boy she met at the record store. his beanie sat snuggly around his head of curls and his jacket was the right amount of fluff to cover his body. his name? finn.
he sat on his bed, composing a mixtape for a girl he met at the record store. her converse were untied and dirty, the bottom of her jeans pooling at her ankles. her hair was unruly yet magical. her name? y/n.
they met every weekend at the record store, buying similar records and laughing until their guts ached. they scheduled a road trip around the coast, finn being too infatuated with y/n to even think he was being creepy by making a custom road trip mixtape.
it ended up being a weekly thing where they would drive up the coast and play in the sand until the sun set. y/n joked about it being 'a film on a reel' and how her favourite songs made her think of him.
the record store was a staple of them and their relationship, now going two months strong. they met everyday at the record store, walking around town and driving up and down the coast.
finn got sad when she didn't show up to the record store on saturday and scolded her the next weekend when she came with a dark, visible bruise on her neck. they ended up driving down the coast but with no words spoken, their words spilling out of the song they were listening to.
the last thing i want is another broken heart to drive me to the brink of crazy
in the end i couldn't take it cause i knew we wouldn't make it so come on, come on
tell me why'd you have to have such a damn good taste in music? yeah, if all my favourite songs make me think of ya i'm gonna lose it.
they would fight everyday in the car, that stupid sing continuing to play in both of their minds.
four months into their relationship, they were toxic. she found finn browsing in the corner and walked up to him with her arms crossed.
finn heard her sniffle and turned around, a few records planted into his hands. his expression died down when he spotted a few more busies on his neck and he clenched his jaw.
"i-" y/n shifted on her legs, "i don't think we're working out." she let out, avoiding eye contact with the teary eyed boy and looking at his vinyls. "what?" he loud out a heartbroken breath and his grip on the records loosened, one falling straight onto the floor. "we're toxic and i c-can't do this anymore, finn." her voice quieted down. she could feel his emotions radiated towards her and the situation was already hard enough for her.
"is there another guy? please tell me there's n-" "what makes you think that?" she finally clustered enough confidence to look him in the eyes, the comment about another guy struck her heart like a dagger. "the hickeys on your neck." he felt a warm line drag down his cheek and down to his jaw. finn watched as she pulled her hood up that covered her neck.
"they're not hickies." y/n gulped. "goodbye." she waited for a second to see if he had anything else to say.
but he didn't. and he watched as she dragged her hand across her cheek and collected the tears. y/n walked out of the record store. and he felt so stupid.
two weeks later and they were both still heartbroken, laying under the covers and listening to their favourite songs.
but it sucked when their favourite songs made them think of the other, both swore they were gonna lose it.
