y/n and richie were bestfriends. they were bestfriends who knew everything about eachother.
"richie, i don't feel so good." six words he never understood.
"get eddie to fix you up." everything he said always including eddie.
she laughed weakly, feeling like richie was slipping away from her somehow.
he took it to the next step when he didn't call or make any interactions for four long days, four days never seeming so long until then. she yelled at him for leaving her and he yelled back, explaining how he was with eddie trying to help him study for a big exam.
y/n wanted to make richie feel okay, but all he did was look the other way, at eddie. he didn't know how much she wanted to just run away and not stay,
"i just kinda wish you were gay."
they met up at the weekly street fighter competition, y/n angrily switching the knob and watching as her character kicked the other character unconscious. richie strutted up to the machine awkwardly with a token in his hand, silently sliding it into the player two coin slot.
"hey." he muttered.
"hi." she replied.
the game started and both fell silent, their conversations turning weak and blue.
"how's your day?" y/n asked, making her character kick richie's in the face.
"decent." he smiled, thinking off the ice cream he had earlier with eddie.
"cool." she dragged the o.
richie was also late for their brunch that they had at 12 every saturday.
y/n angrily shoved her spoon into the duo sundae, watching the banana split in half and drop slowly into the melted syrupy ice cream. she slid her fingers into her scalp angrily, pulling at the roots of her hair with frustration.
richie was six minutes away in the woods with eddie, where he had set up a picnic. he was going to confess that he liked eddie.
it had been so long since she had a genuine interaction with her bestfriend and she felt like she was loosing him.
but he was just lost with his feelings and y/n knew that. she just had to be selfless and understanding.
