Deathbringer stared at Morpha with unfriendly eyes. There was something so... wrong about her. It was hard to describe. Her eyes didn't help at all.
Even though she looked like Glory, she was older and had this weird vibe about her.
Deathbringer could usually evaluate a dragon from their first impression, and although Morpha's words and actions looked good on paper, something didn't sit right with him.
When Morpha hugged Glory without even asking, that was enough for him.
"No touching the queen," he barked and separated Morpha from Glory.
His queen's body language automatically relaxed, while Morpha's tensed up. The peculiar-eyed dragon ran to the opposite end of the platform in fear and covered herself with her wings.
"Please don't hurt me, I'll do whatever but please don't hurt me!"
Deathbringer blinked a few times in confusion and tilted his head to the side.
"I wasn't planning on it... unless you harm Glory then that's a whole different story. May I say I have a history for violent kills," the NightWing said with a small smirk.
He glanced down and saw that Glory was glaring up at him.
He just gave her an innocent look and bent down to her level.
"Yes?"
She rolled her eyes at him and slowly walked to her cousin.
"I promise he won't hurt you. That's Deathbringer, my annoying bodyguard. He's all growl and no bite," the queen assured with a calm tone.
Deathbringer raised an eye-ridge.
There's so many wrong things in that statement, I don't even know where I should start.
"It's just that... I think he was one of the ones that took me in. To the island. I don't like them. I don't, I don't, I really don't like them."
Deathbringer's face scrunched up in confusion. "I never took part in the RainWing kidnappings. Sure I gave out a few orders but never did any of the work myself. I'm an assassin, the best one at that may I say... again."
Morpha glared at him with an intensity that was unsettling, even when Glory glared it wasn't so... mean.
"So you sent others to do your dirty work," she snapped back with a slight tremble in her voice.
Deathbringer growled and walked up to the new RainWing who had lost all possible chances of becoming a dragon he didn't hate.
"Listen here, Morpha. I do not care if you are now royalty or just Glory's cousin, but do not talk of things you don't know."
Before she could say anything back, Glory stepped in between them and gently pushed Deathbringer.
"I think that's enough for today, you guys get along so well. Nice meeting you Morpha, but if you excuse us, there's a certain SeaWing related situation we have to deal with," his queen said as they prepared to take off.
Deathbringer smiled heroically and happily flew out away from the sun time platform with Glory by his side.
"What in the three moons was that?"
He looked at Glory, whose green eyes were full of question and emotions that were not positive at all.
"What do you mean by 'that', exactly? I was just doing my job," Deathbringer said. He gazed away from her angry eyes and started to look around for Tsunami and Riptide.
