"I am?"
"Yes! I've been trying to find you two, but before I knew it, I was here."
Shizuo scratched his head.
"Let's go to my new apartment. We have a lot to catch up on."
After twenty minutes of Shizuo continuously taking wrongs turns and getting lost, they finally made it to Shizuo's new shiny apartment. Shizuo shoved the key into lock, and in the final moment of truth, twisted the key. To his relief, the lock made a satisfying click.
Shizuo opened the door and let Celty inside. Unfortunately, Shooter had to remain outside as a bike due to the two being currently dirt poor and not being able to afford any parking.
The apartment was fairly normal with nothing extreme, it even had a balcony. Shizuo checked the the rest of the apartment out and luckily found one spare bedroom.
"You can stay here for the time being. There's an extra bedroom." Shizuo said, poking his head out of one of the rooms.
Celty nodded. Then immediately, she thought of Shinra. He wouldn't be too happy about this... He'd probably be like, "How dare you live in the same house with that monster?! Don't you love me?" If she had a head, she would've sighed. "Sorry Shinra..." She apologised to Shinra and walked over to Shizuo.
Shizuo was sitting by a desk, so Celty took a seat on the bed. Seeing this, Shizuo pulled his chair closer to Celty.
"I guess I'll start." Shizuo cleared his throat.
"I was just lying there on a bench in a random park, then I must've fallen asleep, since I don't remember anything after that. I woke up, but I was in some dumpster in an alleyway. I thought I might've been drunk or something, but I didn't feel hungover. So I got up and just walked around, and yeah. I realised I was here in this 'world'."
"What happened afterwards?"
Shizuo sighed. "Not really something I'm proud of, but I should get this out of way."
"I got hit by a truck. People were calling the ambulance, not that I needed it. I saw this kid, and I thought I could get some information since he was a kid, but turns out he was an irritating bastard, and he insisted I go to the hospital to get tested. I did get some information, but then..." Shizuo balled up his fists and let out an exasperated breath. A visible vein popped on Shizuo's forehead as he forced himself to calm down.
"Then I saw Izaya."
Celty got the chills when she heard Shizuo say his name in such a calm matter.
"I thought it was his fault, and I chased after him. And that kid, he kept chasing after me, even when I warned him... I hurt him. Then a prison sentence." Shizuo quickly glossed over the last part.
Celty wanted to type something. She retracted it. She typed something again, retracted. She had no idea what to say. Somehow, in all his previous years in Ikebukuro, Shizuo had never been officially been arrested nor had he officially been to prison. Now, one day in this new world and Shizuo's already arrested.
"While I was in prison, the flea freed me. I don't know if he had any ulterior motives, but he did. And later, some stuff happened, yada yada, and that's it."
Celty had a about a million questions, but she looked at the clock. It was already getting late.
"Let's just call it a day for now. It's late."
"Yeah, goodnight." Shizuo stood up from his chair and walked out the room.
Celty stretched, she was getting quite drowsy. She took out her helmet and went to sleep.
Rustling. Celty woke up in early in the morning with loud sounds coming from the living room. She put on her helmet and walked out. Shizuo was on the balcony, smoking. Celty walked behind him and lightly tapped his shoulder.
"Celty? Ah sorry. Did I wake you?" Shizuo apologised, putting out his cigarette.
"Maybe, but I was meaning to get up early anyway."
"Oh really? Well, you do your thing, just ignore me." Shizuo said.
"Is something bothering you?"
"Yeah. More or less. All this thinking is giving me a headache." Shizuo muttered, scratching his head.
"It's better to talk to someone about it."
"Didn't you say you had something to do? I don't want to get in the way of whatever you're doing." Shizuo asked.
"It's nothing urgent."
Shizuo shrugged, "Whatever then. As long as you're okay with it. I've been wanting to get this off my chest anyway. Better to do this now."
"I'm not sure if I even want go back to our world." Shizuo confessed.
"I'm sure you already know, but here, powers are socially accepted. Nobody looks at like I'm a monster, and I know I'm going to sound like a total asshole saying this, but there are people who are more of a monster than I am. It's like a new start for me. And of course that damn flea ruined it for me." Shizuo sighed.
"But even after that, people still gave me a chance. Something I don't deserve, but will gladly take. I...I just feel conflicted. Of course I want to go back to a place where I'm familiar with, but at the same time, I want to stay. It sounds selfish, doesn't it?"
"I get you. But even if there are people who want you dead, you still have people who do care about you. It's the same for me too."
"Then what if Shinra was here? Would you go back?" Shizuo asked the question.
This time, Celty didn't know what to say. If Shinra was really here, then she would start reconsidering. She could go to a place where she could confess her love to Shinra and not get socially shamed. Shinra always wanted that.
"See, you're speechless too. But I guess, you're always speechless." He chuckles bitterly at his own joke.
"But they're not here, are they? That's why you have to go back. What about Akane-chan? Or your co-workers?"
Shizuo sighed. He turned back to the balcony, facing the view across.
"You're right. It was selfish of me to think that way. And I'm sorry I asked you such a personal question. I didn't mean to pressure you."
Shizuo yawns. "Thanks Celty. Talking to you does me make feel a lot better. I think I'm going to catch some sleep now." He stretched before going back to his room.
She took her phone out and saw a text message coming from an ID named Kanra.
Kanra? Isn't that the person from the dollars chat room?
"Yo!"
"Who are you?"
"You don't know me? Uwahh, I'm sad! ( ≧Д≦)"
Celty took a second to think.
"Izaya!?"
"Bingo!"
"What do you want?"
"Let's make a deal."
A/N: I honestly did not expect this to go on so long.
