" I only recently noticed my feelings for Bokuto-san.. i'm so helpless that I don't understand my own feelings. Whenever I'm near him I feel like choking and there tears just come down my face leaving unnoticed scars!! Konoha-san please.,, please help me!" Akaashi said looking towards the floor and his back faced to Konoha.
Konoha hadn't face any issues with love before so it was hard for him to comfort.
"Have you told anyone?"
"I have not."
"Aspire to tell anyone?"
"No."
Konoha didn't know any other strategy so he told Akaashi to seek the school nurse. He mustn't be the only one in Fukurodani with this disease.
" Have you researched about it?"
"I was to scared to see the consequences."
———————————
Akaashi had to excuse himself from practice majority of the time because he saw Bokuto smile for him. Their friendship became distant and Bokuto started picking up something. He didn't want to loose his best friend. He started his own investigation to go talk to some of his class mates.
"Hey hey! Do you know Akaashi Keiji?"
"We do, why?"
"Has he seemed okay in lessons recently?"
"He's the quiet kid at the back with good grades, not many people pay attention to him actually." One said.
"He does have good looks though,, there's about 3girls in our class who like him" the other said with giggles.
Bokuto was surely not getting anything out of them so he asked again.
"Sorry, but I asked if he's been okay in lessons."
"He had skipped 3rd period today. I think one of the boys said he was in the restroom, probably doing something!"
"Idiot he said he was crying. Oh yeah that reminds me! He was sleeping in lessons one time and Sensei tried waking him up but he kept mumbling 'I'm sorry' 'You don't deserve this' and left him be. It was strange"
"Thank you!" Bokuto said while spiriting off back to gym to get his bag
Akaashi was there setting some balls while lying down on the bench. Everyone else had already left and he wanted to get some practice in before leaving so it didn't seem like he wasn't contributing.
"A-Akaashi?" Bokuto stumbled out while walking through the door of the gymnasium.
Akaashi jumped at the voice he recognised and the ball's gravity matched the ground with a thud. It was silence until Akaashi started crying.
"B-Bokuto-san?" He asked, he didn't notice his tears until Bokuto came closer and the pain hit him relentlessly. Knives going down his face and the sound of sweet stars of a galaxy replying on its universe acquainted on Akaashi's cheeks.
He quickly tried to wipe them away before Bokuto realised.
"Are you okay?"
"I'm just fine! Sorry I have to go, goodbye." Akaashi grabbed his bag and dashed off before Bokuto could catch him.The spiky haired boy himself had some questions but he decided to talk to Konoha. Bokuto was worried about him, the setter wasn't usually like this and his game play was off balance aswell.
" Konoha-kun do you know what's wrong with Akaashi ?" He asked him the next day before homeroom.
Startled he replied "n-no? Maybe he caught a bug or something?"
"A disease?!"
"NO!" He replied hesitantly but loudly. The restrain in his voice made it obvious that something is going on.
"Why won't you tell me damn it!" Was the last thing he said to Konoha before storming off to his classroom. Konoha felt partially bad for him. He was just trying to be a good senpai for Akaashi.
"Konoha-senpai" Bokuto's girlfriend came to talk to him.
She told him she wanted to break up with Bokuto since apart from his good looks he didn't pay much attention to her and always talked about volleyball. Recently he started talking about Akaashi a lot too and well after today's act she decided to only stay as friends. Konoha told her to be blunt and honest since Bokuto is an understanding guy. Honestly; Bokuto only accepted her confession because he didn't want to hurt her feelings. Smart. The next day Bokuto and His girlfriend broke up. Bokuto came to practice a little later since they talked for a while and Bokuto came clear that he didn't want to hurt her feelings. She completely understood even though she was the one who broke up with him she was clearly hurt. They carried on as friends.
Akaashi was doing some practice sets for the other players when Bokuto came in.
"Sorry I'm late guys! I was talking to (random name)-chan!"
"Did you guys break up?" Konoha asked looking at Akaashi with a soft smile. Akaashi didn't look at Bokuto at all. He thought if he didn't look at him then it would be okay. That's hard for a setter and spiker. Captain and vice Captain. Best friends."Yeah we did. I hated myself for lying to her but I'm good now and we're both good friends woohoo!" Smiles from everyone as they congrats Bokuto's happiness. However, Akaashi ignored him.
"Akaashi why are you ignoring me?"
no reply.
"Akaashi!" He said trying to reach his hand while he was walking away. He managed to grab his hand but Akaashi just smacked it away. The whole gymnasium became quiet. Bokuto was stunned because this wasn't like Akaashi. Softly he said again "Akaashi..." with a worried expression. Akaashi looked up from the floor straight at Bokuto with these eyes that clearly showed signs of pain. He pushed Bokuto and ran out the gym. He didn't want him to follow him. He just wanted to cry, cry so much that he didn't care about the pain of the crystallised stars going down his face. The sound of chimes they made and the thoughts that ran in his head you're so stupid. You hurt him. You don't deserve this. I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. I should die. That was that. Akaashi tripped over and ended at the side of a river bank; his tears drenched over him and he felt like puking, after a tiring breakdown his sat up off the grass and looked at his surroundings, he had ran way of school grounds but recognised the area. It was near Bokuto' house. The time was almost 4:30pm and practice would be over in half an hour. However they didn't have a setter so they couldn't do any practice. Akaashi knew where he was and how to get back, he left his bag at schools though he had to go back.
"Akaashi-kun?" An lady who was in her early 40s said, it was Bokuto's mother.
"Dear what's wrong? Where's Bokuto?"
Again, Akaashi jolted at the name and the starry tears came down. Mrs Bokuto figured it out straight away. He hugged him and called Mrs Akaashi to pick him up before Bokuto came home. She told him to speak to the school nurse and to tell him when he was ready. Mrs Bokuto has no problem with supporting him, she knew about her son's sexuality but she didn't want to ruin that moment for Akaashi."I'm home!" Bokuto said while coming through the door. "I got Keiji's bags too he left them at school I'll give them back tomorrow" he added on, not noticing that he said 'Keiji' without the honourifics. His mother came to him and said 'you called Akaashi Kun without honourifics dear, did something happen?" She said without being sly.
"Ma, I think I did something to Akaashi but I don't know what! His sets are unbalanced and I feel distant" he said almost sobbing, his mother sat him down in a chair and stoked his hair.
"How do you feel about Akaashi kun, Kou?"
Confused at her question he paused in thought before proceeding.
"He's like a brother, best friend!! A partner, I don't know I just don't want to loose him.. ever"
"Very well, if he ignores you try texting him and just sending letters! Me and your father did that back in high school, I suffered from a dis-" she cut herself from saying.
"Ma?"
"Nothing dear, go upstairs and freshen up I'll bring some herbal tea for you. Get some sleep."
with hesitation Bokuto slowly got up from where he was sat and walked up the stairs into his room. He thought his mother acted strangely today. So he decided to call Akaashi's mother, he had his mums contact just in case of emergencies!
"Hey Mrs Akaashi, how are you?"
"B-Bokuto-san?"wrong number.
