Rayne laid in bed debating on getting up and dealing with the chores of today or just going to sleep and ignoring it all. She was tired and sore from last night and just wanted to sleep. She knew she couldn't do that though her mom needed a ride to the doctor for chemo and it was monday so Her brother couldn't do it. With a deep sigh and yawn Rayne pulled the covers off of her self and got out of bed. She walked over to her closet and got dressed in simple black jeans and a t shirt. She slipped on a pair of vans and headed downstairs to eat. '"Rayne is that you?" Her mom asked from her usual spot in the living room. "Yeah mom." Rayne replied getting tired of the same routine everyday. "Can you make me some coffee please." Rayne had already started on the pot of coffee as soon as her mom said 'Rayne is that you' It was the same thing every day, Rayne would wake up get dressed, her mom would ask her if it was her in the kitchen she'd say yes and then her mom would ask for coffee. Then after receiving the coffee her mom would then complain about the chemo and how she wishes the stupid quack of a doctor would just let her die. Rayne was tired of hearing the same thing every day, literally nothing changed and it annoyed her. "Do you have work today?" Rayne stopped pouring the milk into the coffee as she was shocked at the sudden change in dialog. "Uh yeah but i don't leave until Trent gets home from school." Trent was Rayne's brother, He would take care of their mom while Rayne was at work and Rayne would take care of their mom while he was at school. On the weekends Rayne made sure he never had to take care of her. She wanted him to have a life and not be held back because he had to take care of his dying mother.

Rayne drove to the hospital with her music on the lowest volume because her mom hated it. She pulled into the hospital and sighed. "Can you walk yourself in today?" She asked her mom. "I can walk myself in everyday Rayne. You and your brother act like i'm unable." Rayne sighed at her moms comment. "Mom sometimes you're too weak to even move out of your chair... But i'll be back in two hours." Her mom nodded and got out of the car and walked into the hospital. After making sure her mom got into the building safely she pulled off and turned up the radio. She pulled into a parking lot of her favorite park and just sat there listening to the raido play. Rayne way so stressed out lately, work was good but it wasn't what she wanted. Rayne worked at Walmart, it wasn't the best but it paid the bills. Rayne's dream was to be a cosmologist but her dreams went crashing down as soon as her mom got cancer. She had big plans for her self and had just gotten her license but had to drop the plans of moving out of state. She had to do a complete U turn and move back into her childhood home and it's not where she saw her self when she was sixteen. She thought she'd be away and happy maybe about to get married. Rayne was about to pull out of the parking lot and go home for awhile before she had to go back to the hospital but her phone buzzed. She pulled it out of her pocket and looked at the screen There was a text from Chris,

From:Chris
To: Rayne
Hey, it's kinda early but it's the only time we really have free. Whats up?

Rayne smiled at the fact that he remembered her and thought to text her with his free time. It was nice to know that she was easy to remember. She quickly texted him back.

From:Rayne
To:Chris
I'm always up early it's cool. I'm not really doing anything. I just have to keep myself busy until work at three.

The talked back and fourth about things and Raynes day but she didn't once mention her mom. She didn't want to, she didn't want to seem like she was begging for their attention. Before she knew it, it was already time to pick up her mom and she hadn't even left the park yet. She sighed and put her phone away as she drove back to the hospital that felt like a home more than it should. She pulled in and saw her mom waiting for her in a wheel chair and a nurse standing next to her. Rayne got out of the car and opened her moms door. "Is everything okay still?" Rayne asked the nurse. "Everything went normally but the doctor wants to see her this weekend to do a full scan, just to see if everything is going how we think." Rayne nodded and thanked the nurse. She got back in the car and drove back home with her mom sleeping in the passenger seat. Chemo really did take a lot out of her. Sometimes it looked like it just made her sicker. Rayne's mom may not have been the best, but Rayne still hates to see her in pain and suffering. She was her mom after all. Rayne pulled up in the drive way and gently woke up her mom who opened the passenger door sleepily and walked up to the front door with Rayne trailing behind her. Rayne unlocked the door and they both went their separate ways. Rayne going up to her bed room and her mom going to her chair in the living room. As Rayne listened to music she started on cleaning her room and slowly moved on to downstairs cleaning the counter tops and floors along with rinsing the dishes and putting them in the dish washer.

Before Rayne knew it her brother was walking through the front door and it was time for her to leave for work. "Oh Rayne before you go, how was last night?" Trent asked. Rayne turned around and smiled at him. "I got all of their numbers." Her brothers mouth dropped and she turned around and left leaving him in shock and full of questions.
