Before I knew it, Thursday came and Logan was flying in again. I had been able to get an appointment with a therapist for Friday afternoon. After a whole lot of persuasion, Logan had convinced me to spend Friday night with him in the city. He swore he would be totally hands off.
The overnight stay in Nantucket had been relatively easy as Grandma was pleased that Logan was the father. She was not happy, though, that we hadn't already talked about getting married even though she knew I was a 'modern' woman. I finally was able to convince her that Logan and I were just learning how to co-parent for now. We would have to see what the future looked like—one day at a time.
As I was putting Fitz down for the night, my phone rang. "Hi, Logan."
"Ace, I'm finally here."
"And, I'm putting your son to bed for the night. You're just in time to say good-night to him. I'll just let him listen to your voice."
"Hi, Fitz, it's Daddy. You sleep well my sweet boy. Daddy will see you soon."
"He's trying to grab the phone and giggling. Let me put it down for a second while I tuck him in. Sorry that took a minute. He wasn't wanting to lie down."
"No problem, Ace. So, you're still planning to be in the city in the morning aren't you? I've got some appointments lined up."
"Yes, I'll be there by ten."
"No, no. Let me send a car. That way you don't have to worry with driving in the city."
"I don't want to be any trouble, but that would be great."
"No trouble at all. I'll have the car there by eight."
"Sounds wonderful, Logan. I guess I'll see you tomorrow."
"Hey, don't go yet. Tell me about your week."
"Well, you know my publisher is pushing me for another book. I've been rolling around a couple of ideas and I think I've decided to write something based on Paris'life. What do you think?"
"Based on your first book, I think it will be great. You've got the skills, Ace. Of course, I always knew you did."
"Thanks. I think it will be a different way to go. You know--the eccentric relationship."
"Yeah, that could be a whole new audience. Sounds interesting. So, listen, I'm on London time so it's about two in the morning for me and I'm at the hotel so I'm going to beg off here. I'll see you in the morning."
"Okay, Logan. Get some sleep. See you tomorrow."
Logan sounded tired but it was so good talking to him again. He had such a deep soothing voice. We'll have a busy day tomorrow. I hope the therapy goes okay.
As he collapsed on the bed, his thoughts immediately went to Rory. He was definitely looking forward to seeing her. Drifting off to sleep in his clothes, he woke at six. Opening his eyes he laid there a minute remembering his dreams. They were of her. His beautiful Ace. Getting up he decided he needed a run. Splashing his face with cold water and changing he went out to the quiet early morning streets. It always cleared his head.
The car arrived at The Plaza and Frank opened the door for me. "Thank you Frank."
"Thank you, Miss Gilmore. It's always a pleasure to see you."
"Please. Call me Rory. I assume I'll see you later."
"Yes, Rory."
I knocked on Logan's door and it was almost instantly opened. "Hi."
