   She was in a cage.

In her mind and in her life. The metal bars squashed her against the warm form of one of her most despised classmates. Just as she began to stare into Tao's light green eyes Idoka ducked as Tao aimed a wallop at her head. She endeavored to thrust a kick into Tao's stomach, But the bars prohibited such movements.

"Can we call a treaty for the time being." Idoka panted. She could barely move in the suffocating enclosure.

"Afraid I'll beat you, Idoka?" Tao jeered, twisting her lips into an unpleasant smirk. "But fine we can pause for the time being. Where are we?"

"In a cage but the rest... have known idea... there's like artificial shadows surrounding us." Idoka murmured informatively. Her eyes widening has she examined the depth of the dark cloud.

"Ugg now your using your annoying scientific voice." Tao spat irritably, pushing back a stray piece of dark hair from her face. There was a bang and a slim figure, highlighted in green began to saunter towards them. Who ever it was, wore a shadowy metal mask which curled sinisterly, and a long black robe.

"I have brought you two here today because you are some of the smartest kids of your age." He emphasized in a cruel greasy voice. He seemed to be 19 or 20 but no one could tell.

"We're not kids anymore and don't underestimate me. Or should I say us." Idoka spat begrudgingly.

"How do you know who we are and what do you need us for?" Tao asked with just as much loth in her voice as she could muster.

"Well, girl- "

"I AM A WOMAN." Tao shrieked furiously. She banged her fists hotly against the metallic bars. She was in such a rage; you could almost feel your flesh burning from the heat of her words.

The man in front of them rolled his eyes, as if saying; Nope, your more like a barbarian. Then he creaked his neck and began to strut into the field of artificial shadows.

"OH, I'M NOT FINISHED WITH YOU DON'T WALK AWAY SCAREDY CAT!" Tao yelled hotly. Idoka grabbed her arm with a vicelike grip and whispered into her savage counterparts' ear:

"Stop yelling! I'll do the talking. Just calm down!" Then she called strategically: "Hey, guy we've never met, who creepily likes shadows, spotlights and really strong cages," She said aiming a kick at the enclosing ore. "Can you tell us why you really need us?"

The figures shadow came through the gloom behind her, but his voice echoed from all sides:

"I have brought you here to test the prototype. If the smartest kids alive cannot survive, then hell and chaos will fall upon the world, as it makes its way around this globe." The voice echoed ominously.

"What. Freaking. Prototype, and why do you want to torture and take everything from everyone on earth" Idoka asked, with an icy mix of rage, accusation and inquiry. Her eyes lowered and she pierced the man with a threatening glare.

"The world took everything from me, so it seems only fitting, and the prototype is this." He growled and as he proclaimed the last word, the shadows lifted and Idoka and Tao found themselves on a breathtaking cliff over looking a vast, almost endless arena full of terrifying lava filled pools, vast battle fields, blood thirsty vines, great stone mazes and finally one mammoth like box covered with cogs, wires and screws.

Tao's eye's widened when she saw who many fathoms away from the ground she was. Then their eyes went clouded with darkness as all memories of the arena were extracted.

Idoka's Pov.

The pungent sent of grime filled my nostrils, adding my sickeningly claustrophobic feeling the walls enclosing me administer. The façade around me was so tall I felt like I was at the bottom of a deep, dangerous well.

"Welcome to your first out of three challenges." A voice boomed out from all sides. "I am going to be testing the efficiency of my work as an inventor on you two children!" At this moment, my mind was overwhelmed by sickening memories and hatred. I spun on my heel only to find Tao, nose to nose with me reflecting my hawk eye stair of hatred. "Okay, kids settle down and let me continue testing my prototype!" The voice reprimanded.

"We are not kids." Tao screamed trying to locate the man, probably to murder him. She had always been good at math, fighting and sports. She and I were opposites in that way. Tao had been summoned to their high school from Europe, and I was summoned from America. We had always been rivals in grades and sports. She was also a bit of a hot head, ware as I like to figure things out logically.

"Shush let me try a nicer approach." I advised. "Hey, mister you said something about the first challenge, I can safely assume it has to do with this big... box and I can guess it won't be easy..."

"Yes, yes but I am surprised you haven't figured out the rest of it for a girl with your... reputation. The first challenge is called... The Butcher Block..." He said softly. The malice, intensity, and danger he put into his words was incredible, but I had no time to marvel at his speech because fire had started liking at my toes and the challenge of The Butcher Block commenced.
