Idoka Pov.
When I woke up from my fall, all I could feel was restraint. Shackles were around my wrists, legs, and waist. As my eyes flickered open, I could only see the metallic emotionless face of a vicious looking robot. The machine's glowing eyes had not noticed I was awake yet, so I took this time to examine the prison like room I was being stored in. The walls were stacked to the wooded ceiling with glass jars of fermented objects. The floor was littered with various syringes and test tubes. In the corner of the room guarding what seemed to be the only doorway, was a gnarly wolf sat with piercing yellow eyes. Just as I started to examine my shackles again, I was thrown into a new world.
Third person Pov.
"You hated her and now you adore her, she did one nice thing to you and now you two are all nice and chummy. Why." The games master's sheathed face asked. He was pacing in the laboratory Tao was being held hostage.
"Where is Idoka?" Tao asked menacingly. She stared down the Games Master until he laughed and took something off the shelf. The thing was a small screen with a black and white recording of what looked like Idoka being electrocuted. Even though the recording was muted, the victim was in so much pain it was like her screams where reverberating in Tao's mind.
"Stop! Don't hurt her!" Tao screamed, tears flowing down her face in a salty waterfall. She tried to rip her wrists out of the cuffs binding her, but the only result was a painful cracking in a few of her fingers. "If you don't let her go, I'll, I'll kill you!" She yelled again.
"Oh, really and how do you think you'll manage that?" The Games Master scoffed. Tao thought for a second but before she could retaliate, her shackles fell off her. An astonished expression dawned her face but the second her conscious caught up with her, she was suspended by an invisible force in midair. "Why do you hate me?" He asked, getting up and staring down at her with his hawk like green eyes.
"You know why. You forced us to be in this godforsaken hell like sanctuary for your own enjoyment! You are a monster! Scum! I did not know it was possible for someone to be as vile as your being until you sentenced us to this! You deserve to be burned at the stake, ripped open by wild animals!" She yelled.
"Why have you and Idoka suddenly become best friends! Why don't you guard yourself against her more? I thought you said you would never trust anyone again!" He yelled back. His flat humorless tone was replaced by a deathly malevolent howl.
Tao's Pov.
The minute he uttered those words memories from my childhood flooded back to me. The memories were so painful for me, I had not unearthed them in a decade. The time I was shunned from my family. They were the rulers of Taiwan at the time and I was their spoiled little brat. Me and my brother who had been the undoing of everything. My brother had secretly joined forces with one of our opposing countries, where he had given them all the information, they needed to overthrow our peaceful government. Him being the sleek slime ball he was, he turned me in instead of himself when things got to precarious. I ran when I heard I was being hunted. I ran until I found a couple in Europe that took me in. When my parents found they accused the wrong offspring, they came all the way to Europe. They had been forced to execute my brother to keep up their royal ways. From Europe they bagged for my forgive ness, but I would not have it. I slammed the door in their royal, smug faces telling them I would never love again and that they had failed to regain my trust and failed as humans.
"Wait, how do you know I said that? The only witnesses when I said that were my mom and dad and they're both died?" I accused. My eyes had been misted with tears when the memories had flooded over me but as I whipped the tears away, I saw the face of the Games Master.
"Fool, never think anyone is died unless you see the body!" Reprimanded Jinx.
"No. No, No, No, Nooooooo!" I yelled, as the once handsome but now acid burned, and rugged face of her brother came into view.
"Why Tao, why do you even care about such a scoundrel, such trash! Idoka shouldn't mean anything to you!" He spat, his voice reaching such an angry volume it cracked a little. He took a step towards me and I recoiled, wrinkling my nose. Then he whispered; "We are royalty Tao; you shouldn't even have to look at that street rat!"
"I am not royalty, I was disowned, she is the support, the kindness, the selflessness and the bravery which I never witnessed! I was shoved away from my family, my country! I haven't told her my past because she will shove me away as well! No matter how kind she is!"
"I have something to tell you Tao. Something that will interest your new friend." He said with sarcastic and cruel emphasis.
