Stone pillars began to rise out of the growing inferno on the groaned. Idoka leaped onto one of the ascending columns but Tao did not act so swiftly, her clothes began to smolder, her skin started to singe and Idoka let out a spin chilling scream:

"Tao, take my hand." She said wincing as sparks hit her arm. Tao screamed as the fire blazed around her ankles. Idoka finally got a hold of her counterparts' hand and interlaced her fingers with Tao's.

When Idoka finally heaved Tao onto the pillar she was in rags, unconscious yet she still managed to look beautiful. As this thought crossed Idoka's mind she shoved Tao away from herself, remembering the years of fights, embarrassment, and tyranny she had endured from this woman. The astonishingly loud voice of the game master resounded in her ears as it said:

"I will give you a night to recover but just know, The Butcher Block and I will not be so leanient next time." He warned. Idoka's eyes widened as her pale skin turned gaunt and white.

"We're really stuck aren't we Tao... Tao! Get up your lousy piece of work." She said slapping Tao across the face.

"WELL NOW I'M UP OF COURSE!" Tao snorted sourly. She jumped to her feet, but her narrow escape from the inferno must have been traumatizing because she immediately sat down in the middle of there column and refused to look at the frolicking flame.

"hm, hm." Idoka coughed, "Maybe a 'thank you so much Idoka for saving me from the extremely bloodthirsty flames' would be in order? Just a thought." She counseled.

"Thank. You. Ya happy!" Tao muttered sarcastically. She began to pace around their column. It was large enough for them to have their own sides, so they did not have to look at each other. "What do we do now?" Tao asked.

"Well the games master wouldn't make this impossible because he's testing us. There are three challenges, so he at least wants us to get to the last one..."

"You seem to know the games master pretty well, did you to chat it up when I was asleep?" She asked jokingly. Idoka ignored her.

"We need some sort of switch to turn this box off or a passage to escape." She asked quizzically.

"Get out of your story book it won't be that easy." Tao complained staring at the bare walls.

"I've been up to long maybe when I wake up, I'll think of something." Idoka said. She yawned and tried to make herself comfortable, on the cold, hard pillar.

"That sounds like a good idea maybe I'll just shut my eyes for a minute." Tao concurred and laid down on the other side of the column where she fell fast asleep.

Game masters Pov.

The screens were mounted all around me as I watched as my contestants started to fall asleep. Asleep, was the best time for me to strike.

"Thorium! Activate phase three!" I commanded to my short, slim accomplice. Thorium's voice echoed through my ears before I could see his creeping form.

"Yes, Games Master." He said with an evil cackle, his yellow eyes lighting up with malice. Thorium's long grotesque fingernails tapped a series of buttons and a malicious smile grew across his face as he said. "Asleep, ASLEEP, during a challenge set by US." He cackled. His rat-like body and constant twitching irritated me, so I commanded:

"Leave." And he replied obediently:

"Yes, games master." As he said the last words, I heard a hint of malice and sarcasm along with the admiration and submissiveness. I decided not to worry about it and I turned back to my screen just in time to see my pet dragon eat one of its captors, I smiled at the sight, but the real joy was seeing the column my two contestants were sleeping on, shrinking.
