I took a deep breath and walked through the doors. Why was I so nervous? I had done this many times before. I should be used to being the new girl. I scanned the hallway quickly as I walked by searching for old faces. This day should be the easiest first day. I had already known so many kids already. Between living here in Nester when I was little and my past visits here to visit old friends, I was not a stranger to most the kids in my class. Still new faces flooded me, and I felt naked by their judgmental stares. I had to find someone I knew, soon. I could not take the feeling of being alone much longer. As I was stuck in my train of thought, I had payed no attention to the fact I was walking right into someone. Clunk!
Next thing I knew I was bumping heads with some kid observed in his class schedule. As this occurred, I accidentally dropped the pile of papers I had been holding." I am so sorry; I should have been paying more attention to where I was going. I am just so flustered with all this stuff, and it is my first day, and I am just so confused! I am so so so sorry." I felt myself began to babble out as a scurried to pick up all the papers on the round. I soon looked up to see this strong brown haired boy bending down to help collect the papers. Feeling embarrassed, I felt my cheeks began to warm up and turn bright red.
"It's okay; I'm kind of clumsy, do you need any help?" He said with a smirk on his face. "Looks like your locker is 101 that is right by Dustin's. Let me walk you there." He said looking at my schedule that had my locker number attached to it." My name is Alex, by the way, and you are?"
" Hi I'm Clair" I managed to spit out. He was hot!
"That's right Tori said you were going to be starting school here this year." He said making conversation. Leave it to Victoria to tell everyone I was going to be a new girl this year. I had known Victoria my whole life. When I had lived here years ago, we were neighbors and best friends.
"Well, this is your locker," Alex said pointing to a red metal locker. Standing at the locker next mine was a blond boy putting away new supplies. I guessed it was this was the Dustin boy Alex had told me about." Dustin this is Clair, Clair Dustin."
"As in Clair Hoppner?" Dustin questioned like I was some celebrity. Did Victoria tell everyone I was coming?
"That would be me!" I said majorly over peppy.
"As in the girl that called Zoe Mavericks hot?"Dustin asked
" That wasn't me that was my old friend Liz from my old school. She kind of hacked me." I explained remembering the messages being the reason I had to move to another state being the two move in a year.
" Okay, so your not a lesbian?" Alex asked curiosity.
My heart sank."no I am not I like guys all the way!" I said realizing how dirty that sounded. Why was I so stupid?
"Well, in that case.." Alex said scooting over closer to me. This I liked. He could keep coming if he wanted. I really would not mind at all.
"You have a girlfriend," Dustin said raising one eyebrow. My heart began to drop, and I scooted away from him. I am not stealing another girl's boyfriend first day of school.
"Not after today she is so clingy"He explained.Realizing I was talking to a major player, I started to empty stuff into my locker.UCK! Dated one of those before not cool. Figures he was a player the cute ones always are. Next thing I knew Victoria and Maria ran over and wrapped their arms around me.
"Clair!" the exclaimed almost in unison. Maria took my schedule and scanned it. "We have first, second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth per..wait we have all of our classes together!" Maria yelled loudly as it echoed down the hallway.
"Dang it we only have fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh, and eighth periods together." Victoria pouted after she too took my schedule and examined it.
"Okay, CAn you guys keep down the girl talk some of us are actually trying to learn." Alex butted in jokingly with his winning smile.
"School hasn't even started yet and you are already behind on homework BOO-WOO!" Victoria mocked.
"haha hilarious," Alex said dully in a monotone voice. BRING-BRING!
The bell rang, and I studied my schedule. It looked like I hadart first. If only I knew where the art room was. I couldn't find Maria and the hallways became very bare very fast.
I felt a small tap on my shoulder, and a bright almost baby-faced guy was standing behind me. " Do you need some help you seem a little lost?" He asked in a sweet, concerned voice.
"yeah do you know where the art room is I am kind of new." I let out a little embarrassed. I really wished I would have payed attention during the tour last night.
"It's okay, yeah it's on the way to my class let me walk you, I'm Carson."
"I am Clair," I said following this kid I had never met before today. His smile was welcoming. His voice was caring, but I was not letting down my guard. I had fallen for this before. At my old school, some girls had led me into a closet, and I fell into a trash can. Next thing I knew I was at an open door and sitting inside was Maria. Thank God.
"Well, I will see you around, Clair." He said with a wave as he headed down the steps. First day and I had already met three hot guys this was going to be a great year I could tell it already. This would be my year of New Beginning!
