Let the fun begin

I haven't seen Itachi outside of the school at all for the whole week, unless it was in class or in the hallways. I wasn't sure why he didn't text or call me back and why when I tried to talk to him after class he just walked away. When I asked Shisui if he did something, he denied having anything to do with this. The worst part was that he seemed to be as shocked as I was, because Itachi didn't mention anything to him either.

When I was in the middle of my last class on Friday, the door to the classroom opened as we were all working on our own projects. To my surprise, it was a familiar face that peeked through the door, scanning the room. For me. Some other students looked up to see who it was too, but didn't pay a lot of attention to it. I packed my things and walked towards the teacher, excusing myself and then running out of the room, knowing well that only Naruto knew who it was. And I was sure he was going to ask a lot of questions.

"What are you doing here?" I asked, catching my breath as we walked out of the building across the campus towards his car.

"I told you that my plan had to wait until Friday, don't you remember?"

"I do remember, but things are a bit strange with Itachi as you know, so I'm not sure your plan is even plausible at this point." I said, getting into the car after he held the door open for me. "Are you sure you had nothing to do with this?" I asked when he sat behind the steering wheel.

He looked at me, visibly annoyed by my question, "I told you that I don't want to have anything to do with hurting him. I'm sure something must have happened, he wouldn't just stop talking to you for no reason. Unless he thinks that he is protecting you this way."

"Protecting me from what, exactly? I'm really starting to think he doesn't want to be with me anymore."

"If that's the case, then good for me. But to be honest with you, I didn't suspect a thing until you asked me what I did. I assure you we don't actually spend every hour of every day talking about you. I don't ask and he doesn't say, which might be surprising for you." The smile on his lips almost made me uncomfortable.

"It doesn't surprise me, really." I said. "And it's not like I spend every second of my free time talking about you or Itachi with Naruto either." I said, knowing that it wasn't the truth, not to the full extent.

"Sure you don't," the look on his face told me that he knew exactly what I was trying to hide. "Either way, maybe you have some kind of attention issues and you need to constantly be present in our lives, who knows?"

"I thought we were supposed to be getting along." I said, trying to not dug the hole any deeper than it was by now.

"You're right, we are."

"What is he doing here?" Itachi asked Shisui in a whisper, but I was standing too close and heard the question that wasn't meant for me.

"Hello to you too." I uttered.

"Stay out of this, please." He quickly looked at me, then at Shisui and then back at me again. "I'm sorry, Sasuke." He rubbed his eyes with his thumb and index finger. "This is between me and Shisui, alright?"

"No," I laughed. "This is between you and me, Itachi. I am tired of you doing things I don't understand. So be straightforward with me for one, if you can. Because if you don't tell me what's going on, I'm leaving." I crossed my arms on my chest. "For good, this time."

"I think you need to calm down." Shisui joined the conversation. "You might regret ever saying that."

"I am as calm as I can be considering the situation." I looked at Shisui.

"This is none of your concerns, Sasuke," Itachi walked to me, putting his hand on my shoulder. "You just have to trust me."

"I just have to do what now?" I asked. "Trust you? Why should I trust you if you don't trust me? Why did you just start ignoring me? You don't want to be with me anymore at all or am I reading too much into this, because the instructions you're giving me are unclear."

"Shisui, do you think you could go buy some tea?"

"Tea? You have enough tea to last you a life time already, Itachi."

"Please, Shisui."

"Alright." He raised his eyebrows, but grabbed his wallet and keys. "But I'm not buying any more tea, you seriously have an addiction." He added, walking out of the door.

"Are you going to tell me what's going on now?" I turned my attention back to Itachi.

"I will," he took my hand in his and lead me into the living room. We both sat down next to each other, our knees touching. "We can't keep this up, Sasuke."

"What are you talking about?"

"That day you went out with Shisui," he sighed, "I stayed behind at work finishing grading some papers. Your friend paid me a visit."

"My friend?"

"Kiba."

We were all sitting in Shisui's car. He was driving, Itachi was next to him in the passengers seat and I was alone in the back, looking out of the window as the city changed into fields with very few houses here and there, until there weren't any. I still didn't know what the plan was, but I didn't care about it anymore. All I wanted to do was go back to campus and punch Kiba so hard his mother wouldn't recognise him anymore. At first, I was confused and din't want to believe what Itachi said, because he apologised to me. I believed that we got past it and could move forward, but instead he was trying to blackmail Itachi into sleeping with him. What was his reason behind all of this? He couldn't possibly be attracted to Itachi, or could he? Though at the end of the day, it was most likely for revenge, because our friends still hardly talked to him. Before I knew it, the car fully stopped as we arrived to our destination.
