The fox-like eyes stared at yours with amusement sparkling in them.

"We meet once again, Y/N", he states with a cocky smirk.

You roll your eyes at his formal-sounding statement. "Thanks for letting me know Captain Obvious."

The relationship between the two of you was quite... interesting.

You had met the wild boy on one of your assignments a couple of years ago. A group of detectives, including you, had the responsibility of stopping a transaction between two gangs. The plan was simple, bust into the event, catch them red-handed, arrest the culprits and bring them back to the station, alive, and with the fewest casualties possible.

The busting in part went smoothly, but everything soon went awry when one of the gangs not only started attacking the police but the other gang as well. Of course, you had panicked remembering the orders of bringing them back alive

While you were roughing up some of the men, you saw a gun being pointed to one of the guys you needed to bring back in the corner of your eye. Thinking of all the crap you were going to get if you failed this small -but crucial- part of the assignment, you quickly stopped the masked man from shooting, saving the other's life. You turned around, only to be met with a surprised red-head looking at you. Your hands seemed to itch and reach towards the cuffs in your pocket compartment, and just when you thought you had him, one of his teammates dragged him away and escaped.

You still remember the disappointed look on your higher up's face as you failed one of the many missions you were in charge of. He let it go, as you had completed the other tasks you had needed to complete.

Skip forward a couple of weeks, and you met with the young boy once again. And as expected in the criminal and criminal stopping business, things went wrong. Truth be told, it wasn't the only time you were face to face with a gun, but it was the first where you felt completely defenseless. In a blink of an eye, your opponent's gun was on the floor and you managed to take him down. You glanced around to see who had saved you and to your surprise, you saw a familiar red-head slip away into the shadows.

Ever since those two incidents, no matter the order, you had never managed or truly attempted, to kill the boy. Hurt? Yeah maybe a couple of bruises and cuts here and there when the opportunity presented itself. And the same went for him.

The sarcastic remarks, and the stubborn attitude of both of you, along with the gratefulness (that is always acknowledged but ignored by you both) settled the terrain for the rocky and unusual relationship that the two of you had.

An endless game of cat and mouse, the roles switching depending on the circumstances. (Kinky I know.)

"What do you want? You rarely call for me when we aren't in any business matters", you say referring to all of the times you've met Jeongin while trying to do your job. Keyword trying.

"I'm sure you've noticed by now, you have some authority after all. There's no real, good or bad. Everythings corrupt. The government, the police, the mafia. It's not black and white, its just a confusing hurricane of shades of grey."

You nodded your head knowing what he meant, ignoring the thought of a certain movie popping into your head. Officials being bribed into setting free ruthless criminals. Your higher-ups making deals with people from the mafia, people they're supposed to be against. You saw it more and more every day. It was as if the law they were trying to enforce was nonexistent. And you would be understanding if they had some kind of motives, but the only ones you saw were for money and power. Needless to say, your faith in the police and the government had deteriorated significantly. Your respect for people you looked up to going down the drain. It was tough, being one of the few just detectives in your area.  The idea of good and bad had blended all together the longer you observed your surroundings.

"And what does this have to do with anything?', you questioned.

"Well, to put it simply, we need your help."

And with that short sentence, your life was turned upside down once again by the boy named Jeongin.
