After explaining what Shimada was doing within the bounds of the prison to the warden, as well as debriefing the other detectives on what you had uncovered about the gang, you met up with Atsushi and Dazai again.

"That was amazing L/N-san." Atsushi praised, his eyes still wide from inspiration upon watching the interview.

Dazai hummed in agreement, and took your hand in his, a finger trailing around your fingertips as he spoke in a hushed tone.
"How could a lady as stunning as you ever bring such a brutish criminal to his knees?"

He looked at you through his eyelashes, a flirty smile wide across his lips. Yet you could look past this facade of affection and see the familiar mischief in the pools of his honey eyes. So you chuckled and lifted your hand out of his grasp.

"You know exactly how." You stated, pretending to not notice the darkening of your coworker's eyes, turning around and exiting the building as the two detectives followed you. Atsushi was intrigued by your words, and wondered if there was an act to interrogating people, if there was a specific technique or plan that you follow to get the desirable effects. Or perhaps it was down to a natural expertise, or possibly, an ability?

The Yokohama sun had set by now as the three of you left the prison, the buzzing of the gates locking and opening was all that was heard as you walked, not bothering to start up a conversation as you were tired from the long interview.
It wasn't until you were back to the centre of Yokohama, walking down the many alleyways to get back to the agency, was conversation initiated, from Atsushi nonetheless.

"So L/N-san..." He started, sounding unsure on whether to delve into the subject or not.
You gave him a hum, and turned your head to the left of you, indicating he had your full attention.

"You work at the Armed Detective Agency, so does that mean you have an ability?"

"Oh yeah, I do have one." You nodded, smiling. Dazai shifted his eyes towards you briefly, before looking back towards the large skyscrapers at the horizon, the large moon shining off the windows of the four dark pillars, making their presence even more noticeable in the Yokohama skyline.

"Does your ability have something to do with being able to detect lies?" Atsushi asked, a finger lingering on his chin.

You blinked at him for a moment, taking in his serious expression, bi-coloured eyes twinkling at you with curiosity. It felt nice having someone so interested in what you do for once, despite the closeness you and Dazai had, the man never usually shows a lot of interest in your occupation outside the office. It almost felt like Atsushi was freshly hatched chick, wanting to know everything there is about the world he had just stepped into.
You were about to answer before you heard a small chuckle from beside you.

"Ah Atsushi-kun, you couldn't get it more wrong." Dazai spoke, and suddenly placed a hand on top of your head. "Y/N-chan's ability is far greater than that."

Looking up into his coffee eyes, you noticed the spark in them was evident, as if - even for a moment - he was content, you'd prey they'd stay that way, for he seemed so much more satisfied when they did. You smiled, bashfully, not used to your ability getting so much praise, it felt as if you were young again.

Atsushi tilted his head in confusion. "So what is your-"

"Well well." An unfamiliar voice grabbed your attention as it spoke.
Your head snapped towards the further reaches of the alley, eyes trying to focus a shape when looking at the darkened void in front of you. Squinting them, you saw a man approach the three of you, he seemed like he was in his late 20s, fairly tall with a muscular build, numerous scars on his arms and face, sunglasses covering his eyes and cigarette balancing on the edge of his teeth. Your common gangster.
