As Coleman and I walked down the long, never-ending hallways of Rivercreek High, I gazed behind my shoulders to see Julia and Elsie laughing hysterically together. I tried not to get angry, or sad, but I couldn't help it. I told Coleman I would be right back. I stomped my way towards the two, an angry expression on my red-growing face.
"You. Bitch." I stammered, looking directly into Julia's brown eyes. I just couldn't stay mad at her, when she looked at me with her puppy-dog eyes. They were too cute.
"What? I'm confused..." Julia replied, her right eyebrow raised.
"What is going on?!" Elsie asked, her blue eyes growing wide.
"You know what's going on, Elsie. Don't hide it. You stole my only REAL FRIEND!" at this point, our argument had gotten teachers to surround us. It felt like everyone in the world was watching us.
I felt a slight nudge on my shoulder, I didn't want to turn around, but I knew this possibly couldn't get any worse.
"Raina Adams, what is going on?" Mr. Jessie, our assistant principal asked in a concerned tone.
I stared at the man in his hazel-green eyes.
"N-nothing... I'm sorry, sir." I stuttered, looking away. I felt my face getting green, I felt as if I could throw up right on Elsie. And I wanted to.
"Alright... since it's the first day, you aren't in trouble, but... y'know.. be nice, please." Mr. Jessie said, patting my back then walking towards the gym, where the assembly was currently being held at.
Fuck. I thought, I had practically embarrassed myself in front of everyone. I felt eyes on the back of myself, but I tried to ignore it. I walked up the dark-blue bleachers to where Coleman was sitting. He looked oblivious to what had just happened.
"Hey. Why're you so late?" he asked, smiling at me.
"Uh, you didn't hear?" I chuckled, setting my phone on silent as I shoved it in the back pocket of my denim shorts.
"Nope! Care to.. tell me?" he asked, giggling.
"I don't really wanna talk about it, I'm sorry." I felt so rude for saying that, but I couldn't just embarrass myself like that.
"Oh, no, you're fine!" he sounded so heartbroken, but I knew he wasn't. I sighed.
"This day can't possibly get worse." I mumbled.
