It was lunch, finally. I grabbed my lunchbox, that my mom had dropped off in the office. I was in such a rush in the morning that I forgot it. I zipped it open while I went through my socials. Coleman and I didn't have the same lunch, and basically everyone I knew had dumped me, after what had happened. I was alone. I munched on my PB&J sandwich as I scrolled through instagram. I decided to block Julia and Elsie on all socials. It hurt to do it, but I had to. Julia isn't very forgiving, and there's a very tiny chance of her becoming friends with me again. My reputation had been ruined.
I was peacefully eating my potato chips, until I felt a soft pat on my head. I looked up to see who it was this time. I couldn't get a break.
"Hey! Guess who sneaked out of class!" Coleman exclaimed, smiling from ear-to-ear.
"Oh my god, you scared me!" I chuckled, playfully slapping him on his hip.
"Hey, hey, calm down." He sat down next to me, pulling out his phone.
"So, how'd you sneak out? Mr. Steele is quite strict. At least to me." I asked, shoving a grape into my mouth.
"Well, I just have my ways, I guess." he said, winking.
I smiled.
"Hey, thanks for being my friend. Being new is kinda tough." Coleman thanked, half-smiling at me.
"It's no problem, I'm basically a social-butterfly." I sighed.
"Hey, you seem kinda down. Is everything fine?" his expression changed from happy and cheerful to concerned.
"Yeah, it's just my friend Julia dumped me." I tried not to cry, but it wasn't possible to not. Memories of Julia and I from age 3-present day flooded into my mind. I broke down in tears, a few people stared, but not many.
Coleman didn't even say anything, he just took me into his arms and hugged me. It was the best feeling I had ever felt. His arms felt so warm. I felt completely safe.
"You will be okay, Raina. You will be perfectly okay." he assured me, pulling away from the hug. I wiped my tears and sniffled.
"Thank you. It really means a lot, Cole." I said, smiling.
"Cole? Nobody has ever called me that! Hey, then I'll call you my little raindrop." I laughed.
"Fine with me!" I wiped the excess tears that were in my cheeks, and sighed.
"Hey, here's my number." He grabbed my phone and put his contact into it, naming himself, "cute guy from school ;)" I giggled.
"I'll talk to you after school, meet me by the tree, alright?" he asked. I nodded. And before I knew it, the bell rang.
