• MARY •

"Dear, why are you up so early?" My mother questioned with her head slightly tilted to the side. She was sitting on her rocking chair, the classical french music playing in the background.

"I have an early class today, it starts at seven." I mentioned whilst grabbing a banana from our fruit shelf. I'd prefer a peach or something, but there wasn't gonna be any luck in finding that here. I'm the only one that digs for stuff in the fruit shelf.

Milo, our dog, licked my hand which was slinging over the table, I jumped by being startled. After calming down my heavily thumping heart, I patted Milo's head, petting his golden silky fur.

Reaching for my hefty bag, I kissed my mom on the cheek, not forgetting to say my farewells. As I walked out of the door, the wind brushed my hair away from my forehead. I saw Ace's Range Rover parked in the drive way, a black silhouette of a male figure sitting in the driver's seat.

So, let me explain. Ever since the happening of the thong incident... Ace, the boys and I have become, let's just say, closer than before. I begged Ace to pick me up when Luca couldn't. Yes, I have been bullied more about the whole hanging out with Ace by Ashley and her minions. Maybe they were just jealous, or maybe it was just me.

I believed them a few times but something inside me fought against all the trouble she pushed towards me. No one in my family knew about the bullying except for my dad, sadly he isn't here anymore. He would've told me to fight, defend myself and to be strong.

I snapped out of my thoughts, taking quick steps to Ace's car. I knocked on the window, signalling him to open the door since he would always lock it. He turned to me, his attention switching from his iPhone onto me. I heard a click which meant the door has been unlocked, opening it swiftly, I plunged in onto the seat.

Taking a deep breath, I smelled the scent of Ace's favourite perfume. Vanilla. Well, it does fit him... He's a sweet guy. I giggled to myself, Brent and Ace are after all very different. Brent preferred the stronger while Ace preferred the sweeter.

"What's so funny?"

"Nothing." I smiled at him giddily.

He shoved the key into the hole, the sound of the engine switching on. Both of his large hands settled onto the steering wheel as I relaxed onto my seat. I felt the car move slowly then faster as it got onto the main road.

I stared out side of the window, the housed and trees looked so natural and beautiful. Happy, smiling children and parents playing out on their front gardens, dogs too were involved.

As we got closer and closer to the school, I spotted quite a lot juniors, and seniors wondering the roads, possibly making their way to the school. I eyed the building curiously, why is it called Easton High when we're not even in the East? Though I guess it does make sense... The first principal was originally called Ms. Easton before she got married into the name Mrs. Willows. And then she retired after the 4 years she managed the school. Now we have a male principal named Mr. Mac, and he is easily called the best teacher in the whole school. He is hilarious when he teaches music.

The car came to a halt, my day dreaming ending. We were parked at the front, noticing the bunch of students piling up at the entrance to get into the school. "Thanks Ace." I gave him a brief nod before pushing the car door open and exiting.

Once I stepped foot onto the ground, I immediately felt the cold wrap around me. I felt desperate to step back into the car where all the warmness was gathered. Only then did I realise that I was wearing summer clothes which meant I was wearing a t-shirt, shorts that reached mid-thigh and two different types of shoes - a sneaker and a flat! How could I not tell?

I groaned. It's not like I could just go back home and change, the bell was just about to ring. I walked ahead and into the school, already being squished between bodies. There are 3 classes that have a lesson at seven today, sighing, I stood still waiting for the students to move along.

After the traffic and the running, I was glad to have enjoyed music and the two periods of Art but by the end of the day, I was sulking and was really tired. Like I literally fell asleep during music at one point and I could've easily gotten caught if it weren't for Ella.

I laid my head onto the cafeteria table, finishing the sandwich I bought from the counter. I closed my eyes when I heard a loud noise in my ear. Why? Why now when I am dying? I was disturbed once again after I refused with my actions to look up. I moaned in annoyance, pouting with my eyes shut.

"Mary," Hearing Brent's voice made me jolt up from my position.

Does he not know who I am? He's talking to me in the bloody cafeteria.

If Ashley is here and sees us together, she'll rip my hair out! She has basically banned me from talking to any of her crew! If she were to find me with Brent, she'll have my head!

"What are you doing here?!" I whisper-shouted.

"Um–talking to a... friend?" He said as if it were obvious and plopped onto the seat by me.

My eyes widened, watching Ashley's eyes as they landed on us. "Leave, now. Please."

He frowned. "What why?"

"Just do it!" I rushed.

Grumbling, he hopped out of the seat and trudged to Ace's table.
