"Be the star of your own movie!" I read, the glossy pages of the book called — rubbing against the roughness of my fingertips. "Take control of your own life! Do not let other's judgement bring you down. Like a star of a movie, be the person you know you want to be and allow that spotlight to shine on you! Do it! Do it now and you will never feel the sadness, loneliness, and insecurities you felt before!"
What a load of fucking bullshit.
I turn the page to a white, blank one, closing the chapter of that book and ending it entirely.
I look at its title.
Be the Star You Are.
Written by some author with a pseudonym of Mylibut.
I've been reading inspirational books lately, something that'll help jumpstart my imagination to begin writing.
The block's on my looseleaf again, and it hasn't gone away in the last few days. I really want to take it off, looking out the window to find anything that'll help me get rid of that stupid, Rubik's cube-like block.
But nothing I see seems to help me.
So, I began reading this book, Be the Star You Are. It's a white, paperback book with a cute cover of the author on it. It's aesthetically pleasing, which caught my eyes, thinking it was worth a read.
Yes, I judge a book by its cover.
But doesn't everyone?
Unfortunately, its content is all just a bunch of bullshit and nonsense, talking about being the "stars" of our own movie called life.
To others, it may seem appealing.
But to me, it's just fucking nonsense.
To tell you the truth, we are not the stars of our own movie called life.
We are not the main characters whose faces bathe in the glory of the sun.
We are not the leading actors and actresses in this Oscar-winning production.
No.
We are no movie stars.
We are actors.
But not stars.
People say we're all stars to our own movie called life.
We are all leading actors and actresses in this award-winning production.
But to tell you the truth, life is something that is not singular.
Life is plural.
Many people have a life, their own lives. Lives that are different from others and from you and from me. If we say the title of the movie is life, and that we all are the stars of it, then there would be seven billion people, and counting, who star as the leading actor and actress of this movie. How can seven billion people in the world be the leading actors and actresses of a single movie?
That's why I think we are not the stars of our own movie.
Because we are in the same movie as the homeless man across the street and the business woman walking to work.
Both thinking they are the stars to this movie called life.
However, I do not discard the fact that we are actors.
All I said is that we are not the stars of this movie.
Instead, we, the seven billion Homo sapiens that act in this movie called life, are its supporting actors.
We are the supporting actors that carry the movie, filling in moments that the main leads can never fill.
We are the supporting cast, whether we like it or not.
We are merely the supporting cast.
But, if we, the supposed "stars" of this movie called life, are the supporting characters, then who is the actual star of this production? Who is the main character of this storyline? Who is the leading actor or actress that shines above all the rest?
Well, simply put, the star of this movie called life is life, itself.
It's a movie based on its leading actor.
It's like the movie Aladdin.
Life is Aladdin while we, the Homo sapiens that act in this movie called life, are Abu, Jafar, the sultan or even the camels. We are the characters that support the main lead so he or she could shine their brightest.
We are the people who support life so that it can shine its brightest.
Like the stars and constellations up above, we are only merely the star among other stars that make up a bright, big constellation in the sky.
Thus, we are only the supporting characters that help spotlight Life and make this movie called life a production worthy of the Oscars.

Many people think they are the stars of their own movie.
But truly, we are only the supporting characters that have a few lines and a few appearances in this beautiful movie called Life.
