"The best gift you can ever give to your loved ones is your time. Because if you do, you are giving them something you can never get back."

"Hey, Kyle? Where's that jacket you've been wearing the past few days? I can't find it," Rae calls out from our bedroom, and I walk in to see her rummaging through our dirty clothes basket.
"It's in there." I point to my closet, and she turns to me with a raised brow.
"Why did you put it in there? I told you to throw your clothes in the basket after you wear them so I can find them when I do laundry." Chuckling, she shakes her head. "You make me act like an annoying mother sometimes."
At the mention of the word 'mother', we both pause for a moment. I remember what happened last week. I haven't seen my mother since that day, thankfully. And it took Jess two days after she found out about it to show up on our doorstep, but the moment she walked into our apartment Rae and her hugged and apologized to each other. I knew Jess felt bad for yelling at her that day. But they're back to being best friends now and that's what matters.
I lean in and kiss Rae's cheek instead of replying, and she gives me a smile before walking out of the bedroom to head to the laundry machine.
Even though it's Saturday, I won't get to spend my day with her because of my new job. I decided to look for a job that wouldn't interfere with the full time course I was taking, and thankfully I found one at a near by public library and my shift lasted from 03:30 pm to 06:30 pm on weekdays and all day on weekends which fits perfectly with my schedule.

Laughter reaches my ears as I walk into our apartment, which means Jess and Trevor are here. As the living room comes into view, I see the three of them sitting on the couch looking way too excited for a normal Saturday afternoon.
"What's up?" I ask them as I sit next to Rae and hug her from the side.
"We have good news!" Jess squeals, and Trevor nods in agreement.
"What, are you pregnant?" I ask her, and it's amusing to see how fast the color drains from her face.
"W-- what? No! I said good news." She frowns at me, and I don't miss the disappointed look on Trevor's face.
I get that Jess is not ready to have kids yet, but every time she says something against it she doesn't realise how that makes him feel. Trevor wants to get married in the near future and start a family with her, but Jess freaks out whenever Rae and I even mention children. I wanted to talk to her about it but I never got the chance to. If she really doesn't want children, then I think it's better if they have that conversation sooner rather than later.
"So, tell me then. You've kept me in suspense long enough." I roll my eyes at them.
"Trev got the job!" Jess exclaims at the same time he says, "I got the job!"
"Really?" I glance at Rae and she nods with a huge smile. "That's great."
"And," Jess continues, "we're moving in together!"
"I'm happy for you guys." I tell them as they share a quick kiss. "But it's safe to say you were already living together anyway," I add with an eye roll.
I can't count the amount of times I called Jess in the morning and found out they were together. She spent the night over at his place so frequently that she even had her own toothbrush in his bathroom.
"But this time it's official." Jess rolls her eyes too. "I'll finally move out of that crappy apartment and quit my awful job."
"Well, congrats sis."
