A week later...
With Jessica away in Brazil, Gillis had resorted to working day and night on the Hillside memorial school project. He refused to even return home for food or even for a bath, instead he chose to buy roadside food and bath at the back of his office. He also seldom slept at night as he worked through the night.
His reason for doing this was simple: Insufficient manpower.
Refurbishing the entire Hillside memorial school needed a total of over 700 new pieces of furniture and this was excluding the Head Teacher, the Administrators and the Proprietresses office. Now, with only himself, Clifford and Terrnce as his allies on the project, there was no way he could finish it all up within three months so he decided to put extra time into it.
However, with all his extra time, they had only succeeded in making 20 pieces of furniture which wasn't enough for one classrooms in the entire school. Slowly but steadily, Gillis was draining himself but he didn't complain, he just kept pushing himself, even though there was so much that wasn't in his favor.
"Good evening sir."
"Thomas?" Gillis said looking up from where he working, "what are you doing here?" He stood up, "I told you that I don't want to go home. You can go, please. It's past 9pm."
"I know," he said walking inside the office, "I just wanted to drop off some food and a change of clothes, courtesy of Mrs Idara the housekeeper."
Gillis smiled, "but you didn't have to," he said collecting the items from Thonas, "Thank you."
"You're welcome sir," he said, "But that's not the only reason I'm here sir. I also want to know if I can help you out with anything. I'm not exactly a carpenter but I know a few things about it," he chuckled, "you know all those days of hustling and looking for jobs, it get nothing wey I no do {there's no job that I didn't do}."
Gillis laughed, "I feel you, man. I feel you."
"So what should I do first?" He said rolling up his sleeves, "Just say it and I will do it."
"Yes, me too."
"And me three," Terrence said as he burst into the scene accompanied by Clifford.
"What are you guys doing here?" Gillis asked.
"Saving you from over killing yourself," Clifford replied dropping his bag on the floor.
"Yeah," Terrence said, "Henrita told us that she saw you come into the office with a sponge, towel and a soap bar and-"
"And adding two and two together, we figured that your workaholic self was working over night to ensure this project is accomplished," Clifford said.
"Come," Terrence tapped him roughly, "what's that nonsense? Why are you finishing my sentence? Are you my girlfriend? Are you my wife? Take your time oh."
"See this Olodo oh! You think me I'm Henrita?" Clifford hissed.
Gillis laughed, "Thanks for coming out guys, I really appreciate it. With that said, let's get to work."
4 hours later...
"Please tell me that we have done a hundred pieces of furniture," Terrence said from where he sat.
