Keefe's POV
I furrowed my brow in concentration as I slowly dragged my paint brush in a small streak. A bold line of blue against the blinding whiteness of the canvas. I looked at it again and shook my head in disgust. From behind me, I could hear an annoyed growl. I sighed and turned around to see Ro, her vivid pink hair pulled up into a short, messy bun.
"That's the sixth time that you are redoing that ONE LINE! I am so tempted to just take it and scribble over the whole thing with blue." She said, her arms crossed in annoyance.
I rolled my eyes. "It needs to be perfect! I-I just, the only thing I'm good at. And now I suck at it too." I placed the brush down and sank into my bed, rubbing my face with my hands.
"Wow! The Lord Hunkyhair is feeling useless! That's a first, considering you always have something to say." She stalked up toward me. "Now why don't you tell me what's so important about that painting over there."
I looked at my failed painting and flopped back on my bed. "Nothing is important about it." I said.
Ro rolled her eyes. "Don't bother lying. Now spill, Keefie boy."
I glanced down. "It's for Sophie," I muttered, hating myself for telling her so easily.
"Ahhh the blond hottie that you met." Ro said, wriggling her eyebrows.
I didn't bother correcting her as I said, "Yeah."
Ro walked over to me. "Hmm, weird. You want the only girl who doesn't throw themselves at you." Ro speculated.
I started to shake my head. "I don't WANT her. I-I just want to-uhh be nice to her!" I winced. That sounded weak even to me.
Ro snorted. "You might not want to tell her that. Even as oblivious as she is, that sounded fake." Ro laughed as she tapped my nose with her pointer finger, the nail polish still a bright pink. I crinkled it, as Ro let out a chuckle.
I sighed. "She has a boyfriend though, so I can't do anything. I mean, she might not even like me in the first place! Also I just met her like a day ago, did I mention that?!" I exclaimed, rubbing my temples, trying to get her soft brown eyes out of my head.
"Man, things are interesting down in teenage land." Ro said, wiggling her fingers.
I rolled my eyes but silently agreed. Sophie had a way of making things action-filled, I could just tell.
Suddenly there was knock on my door and my father stalked into my room without further notice, looking as immaculate as always. His blond hair was slicked back, the complete opposite of my attractive messy style. He was wearing a business suit, even though he doesn't work today, and his ice blue eyes were darting across my room. I sighed internally. 'My day was going to be a lot worse now that he is here.' I thought to myself.
