19. The Plan We Liked

"Can I join you in whatever you're doing?" I ask coming up to my brother who was walking down the hallway, he glances at me. "Why? Theo doesn't want to hang out with you?" I roll my eyes and stop him, he sighs and looks at me annoyed. "Why are you being a dick?" I ask him, he rolls his eyes and starts walking again. I groan, "I'm coming with you wether you like it or not, so tell me where we are going," I tell him.

This time he groans, "Okay, fine. We're going to the library to meet with Nolan," he responds. "Whoa, whoa, whoa... Nolan? The guy who wants to kill us?" he nods, "Why?" I ask. "He wants to help," he shrugs, I furrow my eyebrows. "So, since I agreed to see him I was hoping that maybe I'd end up beat him up. And since you're coming with... you could probably help me," he tells me, "I'm down for that," I reply.

As we waited for Nolan, we were in the aisles pretending to look for books. I was looking through some random science fiction book when Liam nudged me, "He's here," he tells me. I put down the book and we see that Nolan goes to the aisle next to ours, so we made our way over there. And it seemed like everyone in the library gave Nolan some looks, kind of like the looks Liam and I got.

"Doesn't feel good, does it?" Liam asks him as we walked over to him, he looks back at us. "You know why they're all looking at you like that?" he asks, "They're afraid of me?" Nolan questioned. "They're afraid of what you're gonna say, and who you're gonna say it to," Liam tells him. "Nobody trusts you anymore," Liam says, "Then why are you here? Why is she here? How come you texted me back?" Nolan asks. "Cause maybe this time we'll kick your ass," Liam tells him, "I said I was going to help. I can show you something. Something I know you're gonna wanna see," Nolan says.

"Where?" Liam and I ask, "A-at the hospital," Nolan stutters. "Why don't you just tell us what it is?" I ask him, "Because I had a plan," Nolan answers. "You? You have a plan?" Liam asks, "Yeah. Yeah, I..." Nolan sighs. "I'm gonna show you what you need to see at the hospital. Then you're gonna kick my ass so Miss Monroe thinks that you guys had to beat the information out of me," Nolan explains, Liam and I look at each other.

I raised my eyebrows and we looked back at Nolan, "Yeah, I'm good with that plan," Liam says. "Yup, sounds great," I agree, "Let's go," I say.

We were at the hospital, we didn't go through the front door but through the stairs. We stop and hit behind a vending machine, Nolan motions to one of the nurses helping a patient near the front door. "See that guy? That's why we didn't come in the front door," Nolan tells us, "Who is he?" I ask. "He's with Monroe," Nolan replies, "He was there last night. They handed him a gun like everyone else. You see that nurse right there?" Nolan points over to a nurse at the front desk who was talking to a couple.

"She was standing right behind me. There's more than you think and they're not just hunters. It's anyone and everyone who is willing to pick up a gun," he says, "Last night they were teaching them how to use them, how to load clips, what to do if the gun jams," Nolan explains. "Nurses?" Liam asked puzzled, "Everyone," Nolan says.

"So, this is what you wanted to show us? That people hate us?" Liam asked looking back at Nolan, "We could've figured this out on our own. Plus, this is basically already known information," I said. "It's not just that," he sighs and puts his hand on Liam's shoulder and looks at both of us, "Come with me, okay?" he hear the front desk phone ring and the nurse picks it up. "Now!" we then started to walk down the hallway, we walked in the elevator and Nolan pressed a button.

Once we got the the floor Liam and I tried to walk out first but Nolan put us behind him, Nolan looked both ways to make sure no one was there. Then we went into the Intensive Care Unit, and inside were three patients.

We stood in front of them, "They brought them in yesterday," Nolan tells us. "Who are they?" Liam and I ask looking at the men and women in the hospital beds, "I- I don't know. But they brought them in last night," Nolan says. I walk up next to the hospital bed with the woman in it, I look up at the IV. The liquid inside was a dark purple, Liam stands next to me looking at it as well. "Do you know what that is?" Nolan asks, "Wolfsbane," Liam responds.

After Liam called Mason, Liam looked back at Nolan. "Okay. Uh, I'm going," Nolan says starting to walk out, we stop him. "Whoa whoa, what about your plan?" Liam asks, "Yeah, when do we get to kick your ass?" I ask as well.

"Nobody saw you guys come in with me..." Nolan trails off, "You don't know that," I shrug. "So?" Liam asks, "So... I don't have to get my ass kicked," Nolan replies. "Well, that was the only part of the plan we liked," Liam says, Nolan looks down a bit afraid. Liam and I look over at each other, I sigh and nod over at Liam. "Go," Liam tells him, Nolan looks up and grins. He then walks out, "I really wanted to kick his ass," I say.

Liam doesn't say anything, I sigh. "You know... you've been a real asshole since that day at the abandoned zoo. More than Theo," I tell him, he looks over at me. "I just don't get why you're with him," he says, "Maybe because I know that he can change," I respond.

"People like him don't change, Lin," Liam tells me, "Oh, really? What about... Deucalion? Peter? Even Argent! They all killed people before, and Scott gave them a chance to change... and they did. And now they are our allies," I say. "What about Brett? You weren't that upset when Brett and I dated," he scoffs, "Brett didn't kill people. Theo did. That's the difference. Theo killed Scott, and his mom brought him back. You were there when it happened!" he says.

"Yes, I know that. But he helped us, he helped you! You know deep down in that cold heart of his... he cares. Yeah, he might be a dick almost all of the time... but at least he helps us when we need it," I tell him, he just sighs and goes to look out the window of the door.

Then suddenly the hospitals emergency lights come on, "This is not good," I mumble.
