LINDSEY DUNBAR
"Scott, Malia, and Lydia are going out to Canaan. He said to go through with the plan as long as it doesn't destroy his house," Liam says as we go down the hall with Hayden, "Yeah, and he also said I have to make sure we go through with the plan," I sigh. "What plan?" Hayden asks, "Your plan," Liam and I replied.
"I don't have a plan," Hayden says, "Well, you said you had all these ideas about how to catch a Ghost Rider," Liam tells her. "I had one idea. It was pretty bad. And then I had another really bad idea," Hayden says, "Anything that could work?" Liam asked. "Literally anything?" I ask, "Yeah, but it's terrible," Hayden answers. "Great. Let's do it," Liam says, "We need to break into the faculty storage room," Hayden tells us.
"To save the whole town from Ghost Riders? No problem," Liam says and walks away, I look over at Hayden. "At least it's something," I shrug, "Don't worry, it'll be fine," I say.
Later on, Liam, Hayden and I were near the storage room. There were some teachers standing nearby, so Hayden and Liam were making out. I was by the water fountain drinking lots and lots of water. "Do you have the list?" I hear Liam ask Hayden, "It's in my head," Hayden responds. "What if you forget something? Is that a good idea?" Liam asks, "If we get caught stealing school supplies, it's a great idea," Hayden says.
"Okay, now," I look up and see that the teachers were gone, I quickly follow Hayden and Liam into the storage room. "You know, just knowing I had to be near you guys while you were making out makes me feel icky," I tell them, once we go into the room Hayden instantly starts grabbing the things we need. "Can't we just buy a lighting rod?" Liam asks, "Sure, if you've got $2500," Hayden replies. "I'm sorry for my brother being an idiot," I say as I hit my brother on the back of his head, he winces.
Once we go more into the room, we see Mr. Douglas working on something. He finally notices us and quickly stands up, "What are you doing here? This is faculty only," he says picking up his stuff. "Then why are you the one leaving?" Hayden asks, "What are you doing?" Liam asks as well. "I could care less, we should go," I shrug, "Plugs and wires? Are... are you making a taser?" Hayden asks.
Mr. Douglas chuckles, "No, no of course not," he replies. "You saw them didn't you?" Liam asks him, "You should be in class," Mr. Douglas tells us. "Was it the night of the lacrosse game? You saw the lightning, the men, and the horses?" Liam asks, Mr. Douglas looks down then back up again. "Dozens of them," he replies, I furrow my eyebrows. I still don't know why I don't have a good feeling about this guy. "Then what?" Liam and I ask, "It was chaos. They were everywhere. Some of the kids were running. But, for everyone else it, it was like there was nothing there. They couldn't see a thing," Mr. Douglas explains.
"We did. And we've got a lot more to tell you if you really wanna fight back," Hayden tells him, "You think that's a good idea?" I whisper to my brother.
Then we go over to Mr. Douglas' classroom, while Hayden and Liam try to tell Mr. Douglas the plan I was just sitting on one of the other desks listening. "The lightning strikes the rod, which sends the bolt down into the tunnel. We grab the Ghost Rider push him into the bunker, and we trap him there," Hayden explains, "Okay. How do you keep him from riding the lighting back out of the tunnels before you get him into the trap?" Mr. Douglas asks. "Well, if the lightning strikes again, it'll just hit our rod. He won't be close enough to grab on," Liam explains to him, "But, shouldn't we assume the Ghost Riders have some kind of control of where it strikes?" Mr. Douglas asks.
Mr. Douglas chuckles, "Just because physics can't explain it today doesn't mean there won't be a logical explanation tomorrow," Mr. Douglas says standing in between Liam and Hayden. "So, if they have control, then how do we stop them?" Liam asks, "We need to absorb a lightning bolt," Mr. Douglas says. "Can we do that?" Hayden asks, "Is that a thing?" I ask as well. Mr. Douglas shakes his head, "Not with anything we have here. I can't build a conduit strong enough to absorb even half that much energy," Mr. Douglas says.
