Allena

Allena watched her men taking out the lifeless body of the teenager from the heap of garbage. They placed the body on the ground before Allena so that she could have a look at it. Allena examined the dead body for a few seconds before flickering her gaze towards Cyrus and moved aside. He hunched down beside the corpse to inspect it closely.

"There are no other wounds on his body. Though there are faint red marks around his neck...maybe someone has held him forcefully or has tried to choke him before killing him." Cyrus said. Allena followed the creases appearing on his forehead as he spoke once again, "the wound is pretty deep and has gone right through his heart..."

Allena sighed hearing the same words from Cyrus which she had assumed long ago. There was no new information or clue for her to work on finding the murderer. "Whoever has done it, they knew David was important to us," standing up from the ground Cyrus started to walk beside Allena. "Things are getting out of our hands," He muttered while looking around.

"Take him away and deal with the police, then give his body to his family members to bury it properly," Allena ordered a woman. As the woman bowed to her and walked away to follow her command, she turned around to face Cyrus.

"Things will never get out of my hands." Cyrus held his gaze to Allena's bright eyes full of determination for a few seconds before averting them. He lowered his head and informed Allena in a hushed tone, "they are waiting for you."

Allena looked past Cyrus and found the family of the teenager waiting for her at a distance. Gloom was visible on their face and their daughter was weeping with her face hidden against her father's chest. "The news must not reach the tribrid Queen." Mumbling sternly in Cyrus's ear, she walked past him, towards the grief-stricken Gomez family.

Spotting Allena the father and the mother bowed curtly but the daughter did not move away from her father's chest. Allena acknowledged them with a nod. "I am sorry for your loss," said Allena, placing her hand on the mother's shoulder.

"He had committed treason, so the Mother decided to punish him herself," the mother was sniffing to hold back her tears while she spoke to the Alpha. "But he was repenting..."

"I know," Allena took her hands into hers. "What happened to him is really wrong. I will..."

Before Allena could say anything more, the daughter turned her tearful eyes in her direction. "You said you'll spare him. Uncle was in the meeting, he told me. Then why did you kill..."

"Dani, no!" The father shut her down immediately covering her mouth with his hand. "You must not speak to the Alpha in this manner." The twelve years old's eyes again filled up with tears and she looked away from Allena. "I am sorry. Dave was very close to her. She is out of her wits..." He lowered his head and apologised to Allena.

Allena was shocked by the girl's words. The idea that her pack members could have been secretly blaming her for David's death had never crossed her mind. "It's fine," still managing a half-smile around her lips, Allena assured the father. Moving past the mother she came face to face with the father and daughter. The hidden trace of uncertainty and fear in the father's eyes didn't go unnoticed by the Alpha. He clutched his daughter closer to his chest. In such a situation, Allena would have done the same, if she had a child or more precisely if she could bear a child. But like many other things this ability was also snatched away from her.

She squatted down before the girl to match her height. "I will try my best to find and punish the man who did this to your brother." She smiled at the girl apologetically and stood up.

Taking leave from David's family Allena made her way to Cyrus amidst the chaos which was going on surrounding the body of the teenager. "Ask Jenny and the future Alpha of our pack report in my office ASAP." Before the obedient curt of Cyrus could catch her eyes, she walked away from the murder spot.
