Under Her Mercy

Recap: Where Were We?

This is not a new chapter but a recap of our characters' current standing. It is to refresh the memory of the readers and the author as both will be returning to the story after almost two years.

Nina - She is currently in the North's pack. Judging by Saranya and Nina's conversations over the phone, the latter has been received cordially in the North's pack. The pack seemed to be elated to have their would-be Alpha among them. However, we are unsure whether the pack members are genuinely happy in Nina's presence or if it is just a big bad facade they are putting up behind some sinister planning.

Nina hasn't tried to meet Allena in the pack's prison. She has announced that Allena's fate would be decided after having another round of discussion with the tribrid Queen. She has spoken to Cyrus privately and has probably received some valuable intel from him. She is planning to reveal those to Saranya once she is back home. But would she be able to leave the North's pack as easily as she has entered - that we don't know.

After all her stay at the North's pack has been unusually smooth till now.

Saranya - Let's admit it - Saranya is too confident of her power. She thinks of herself as invincible. This is true but with invincibility comes loopholes. Instead of always worrying about the people she loves, she should have spent some time fixing the loopholes surrounding her invincibility.

She is waiting for Nina to return home tomorrow. Today she was about to accompany Zoya to pick Myra's kids up and take them to Myra's exhibition but one of her important packs got attacked (?) very suddenly and very suspiciously. Now, none can reach the pack members over call, which made Saranya even more concerned. Her current plan is to head to the pack and save their asses. Afterward, she will head back to Myra's exhibition.

Half a dozen of her men will be following Zoya and Myra's kids. So obviously nothing can go wrong there. Right?

Also, fifty of her best wolves and Rizwan (one of the oldest vampires of her coven) are there to protect Nina in the North's pack. Nothing should go wrong there as well. Right?

Myra - She has never done anything wrong in her life. Except for ... she had been too hungry for knowledge at one time. Which might have led her to stay with a villainous woman to learn a few tricks about the dead. And maybe, that villainous woman has something to do with Saranya, which if with time comes to light may change how we see Myra...how Saranya sees Myra.

Unfortunately enough, the villainous woman named Ira has reappeared in Myra's life out of nowhere. She could have chosen any other day to do so...but she chose the day of Myra's exhibition's inauguration out of all other 364 days in a year.

Let's see, Zo and Myra's kids will arrive anytime in the exhibition. Myra's hoping that Ira won't create a scene in front of Zo.

But first, let's see whether Zo and Myra's kids arrive at the exhibition smoothly or not...

Zoya - Till now Zoya is the sanest of all our protagonists. She is a human, she doesn't have a shady past and she is not ready to toss her mortality to stay with Myra forever. She is currently in her car, with Myra's kids and a vampire whom Saranya has appointed to drive her car (as if she doesn't know how to drive a car!). Also, another 5-6 vampires are following them to ensure they reach the High Priestess's exhibition smoothly.

This is equivalent to Z plus security. Within half an hour they should reach their destination. Right?

Jenny & Mridul - Our trademark villains. Mother and son duo. Their initial plan was to take Allena and leave Saranya's mansion as fast as they could. But, Nina decided to tag along. They have been very cooperative with Nina in the North's pack despite knowing the girl is practically collecting evidence against them and she will leave in a day.

But she is not leaving today. So a night can change many things. After all, Mridul is dreaming big. He is not going to settle for the North's pack anymore, he wants more - essentially from the tribrid Queen.

Rehan - He passed the information of Zoya and Myra's kids being alone without Saranya or Myra to Mridul. Either way, he is going to die.

Now the question is, how will he die?

Ira - Iravatti was born to a warlock father and a human mother some seventy-five years ago (although she looks like a woman in her late 30s). Ira has no backstory of how she became so diabolic or why she practices the lowest forms of dark art. The only possible explanation is her father was a renounced warlock and her mother passed away before the first trimester ended. The father, out of love and desperate to keep the symbol of their love alive, killed several humans to keep the child alive and growing in a dead woman's womb.

When this act came to light, he was sentenced to death by the High Priest of the coven. But the child was already born and spared.

At the age of sixteen Iravatti left her coven. Determined to write her own future, she began to travel from coven to coven, taking discipleship of many witches and warlocks.

After learning so much, Ira concluded that the world is a ball of chaos and it should stay like that. She firmly believes that witches and their covens should stay independent and uniting them under someone's leadership is a revolt against nature. That is why when some thirty-two years ago Saranya's mother, a High Priestess of one of a relatively large coven, was attempting to uniformize many small and scattered covens, Ira grew an instant hatred for the woman.

Sahana's attempt didn't materialize, given her untimely death. But when one of Ira's own disciples (although estranged), Myra managed to bring hundreds of small covens under her rule - riding on some foolish prophecy of a 'Chosen One' or whatsoever, the diabolic witch got pissed.

She has been keeping tabs on Myra for quite a few years - which was unknown to Myra.

Now the witch has visited Myra - after nearly twenty-five years. Who knows what role she will be playing now...
