I was awake now glaring at the white ceiling tiles. i just decided that i hated white. it was so bland..so pure..so bright..eveything i was not. I heard the pitter patter of foot steps and sighed.. i was too tired for talking now. i closed my eyes feighning sleep.

"Rin, i know youre awake,". my body stiffened in surprise. it was Him! my eyes flashed open.

"How did you know," I asked looking the opposite direction from him. " how did you always know if i was sleeping or not?" He chuckled affectionately. and i finally met his gaze with my own.

" its your face Rin i know it way too well, when you sleep your mouth is open a teeny tiny bit always," he smiled at me. " when you fake its closed and you breath to shallowly."

" You jerk!" i exclaimed as he laughed at my sour expression. i smiled tentaively, " i really missed you when you left," His face darkened with regret and pain.

"i missed you more than you would know" He whispered, leaning toward me. " but you know I had to. I couldnt stay here with the awful memories haunting me."

" I know, But when you were gone.. those two years.. they werent as fun or happy with out you." i murmured and touched his hand lightly. He grabbed it.

" How are your parents.. did they die from the zombies?" he asked quietly. I paused enjoying the feeling of his hand.

" No, they are dead but they died last year, in a car crash," i smiled. " Thank God that they arent here to experience this hell," his whole family was dead so i didnt ask him about his. it was why he left.

" Austin!" someone cried from the doorway. i saw Allyssa, looking in delight and wonder. she always had a little crush on him. she ran to him and she was followed by ANdrew JAsper and the woman, Miss Delilah.

"You guys are all okay!" i sighed in relief. They grinned too.

" Hello, Karina, i must say im very impressed at what you did. Im very thankful and forever in your debt," Delilah said with gratitude, " and do you think you can walk?" i nodded. " good id like you all to follow me, except you dear," SHe nodded to Alyssa apologetically," it only concerns those that faought in that battle. my appologies."

Alyssa let go of Austin's arm and hung back as we left and i admit shamefully that i was relieved to see Austin leave her without even a backward glance.
