" It really wasn't a problem," Andrew replied taking a sip of cold water. " we were happy to help,"
" But what you four did was incredible and way beyond "help", you guys are God's gift to this forsaken world!" The woman exclaimed as she paced the room.
"So? Your point is...?" I asked, puzzled. I didn't mean to sound rude but I really did not know where this conversation was going.
"well..I was wondering if you young people could be... kind of like guardians or protectors of this place," She said beaming at us. We all stayed silent. Then jasper spoke up.
" I'm sorry ma'am, but I really don't think I can take on that responsibility." He said with regret but no hesitation.
" Me too," I stood up, " I'm honored you would ask me but I don't think I can willingly go out to fight Them again, I didn't really think of what I was doing when I went out there the first time, I really am sorry, but I cant go through that again knowing what its going to be like," Delilah's face fell and I felt a pang of remorse but I just couldn't go with it.
"Im with Karina, I don't want to die just yet, you may call me a coward but I don't really want to die for a whole bunch of people I don't know or care about" Austin said confidently standing beside me, and I was so glad he was here.
" What about you, Andrew dear?" She asked hopefully, " Will you do this act of kindness for the people, we would treat you like kings" she added to all of us, " we would give you everything you would want."
"Sorry Miss, but my place is with my cousin and our first priority is staying alive and that would be kind of hard if we were throwing ourselves at the abominations just to save some people that might die sooner or later anyway," Andrew said apologetically. WE all stood there awkwardly,
" well I cant change your minds," she murmured disappointedly. " but I respect your decisions"
"thank you," we said and left her standing there defeated.
