Who Sent The Dead Among Us?

Ch 9 part 2

I walked beside Jasper, his cheerfulness was really growing on me. We were heading to the east, apparently Matt had a cousin with a plane, a plane we could get to Asia with.

" who do you miss most Jas?" I asked trying to make conversation.

" well, probably my dog Kate," he said wistfully. " I don't have any family so she was all I had, but she died protecting me when all of this started,"

" that must suck," I sighed as we walked across a green field. " I miss my family but I mostly just miss having good food and nice comfy beds to sleep in,"

" yeah I miss those too Karina," we walked in silence. Andy was walking alongside the two new guys as they walked their two weary horses. Austin... Was walking beside Alyssa. They were walking close together and he was supporting her with his arm across her waist... I turned my gaze away from them quickly, feeling a lash of anger.

" something wrong Rin?" jaspers sweet concerned face asked, " you suddenly look ready to kill,"

I chuckled uneasily, " I feel really pissed off but I've got no idea why,"

" jealousy maybe?" he said with an innocent look, I punched his shoulder.

" Ofcourse not stupid!" I exclaimed, " I don't get jealous,"

" I know how you feel," he replied solemnly, " I get jealous too,"

" Jas, I am not jealous," I snapped, but something caught my eye, and I twisted my neck to get a better view.

" Karina?" Jasper asked.

" I thought I saw some one, but I must have imagined it."

We were setting up camp and I felt really sad as I saw Austin and Alyssa talking and putting up a tent. I wasn't jealous, I was just upset that Austin and I didn't get to talk as much ever since Alyssa got here.

The bushes rustled, and it made me shudder, it felt like something was watching me. I'm probably just being paranoid. Yup just paranoia. I shivered again and went up to Alyssa, I normally would ask but it was kind of frightening to go out alone...

" hey Alyssa can you come to the Brooke with me? I want to take a quick wash but I don't want to go alone,"

" sure! Ofcourse Rin!" she smiled all big at me and I couldn't help but give a small smile back,

" thanks for coming," I said as we dodged tree branches and shrubs as we made out way to the small stream.

" I miss hanging out with you karina," she said honestly and I felt bad about how I was treating her,

" sorry about that, but I promise we'll spend more time together starting now," I gave her a hug and we giggled. But then we heard a branch snap and the two of us froze, what was that??

" karina? Did you hear it too?" Alyssa asked me with fear, I nodded numbly, zombies I could handle, they had no real thoughts or anything but this was sooo creepy....

Another branch cracked and Alyssa and I held each other tighter. I couldn't see anyone, it was evening and the sun was almost out, but then...

A pale scarred face appeared out of the shadows, we stared in terror as he curled his mouth into a demonic smile. I heard him snap his fingers, " hello ladies," he breathed and something hit my head and the last thing I saw before blacking out were blurred faces standing over me.
