Dear Earth,
I'm sorry that we've failed you
Over and over again
I'm sorry we can't keep you alive
Because we've committed unconceivable sins
I'm sorry we take advantage of your beauty
All we do is hurt you
Just to fulfill all of our selfish duties
We never meant to infect you, too
It's our fault for overflowing with pride
It's our fault that our hands our now tied
We're the reason you can't breathe anymore
Because your needs were ignored
For our ignorant endeavors
But they shouldn't ever come before
The cries of help you were calling for
So we cut down your trees and polluted your air
We stripped your animals of their homes and
We tossed them in machines everywhere
Then when we started to feel remorseful,
We stopped covering you with plastic
But our hearts are greedy and our eyes drip with money
So we still mass produce plastic in our countries
Most of all, I'm sorry it took a pandemic
For us to learn our lesson, and maybe it's a blessing
Because now you can heal as we learn how to feel
Sorry to you and each other for the damage we've instilled
Maybe one day we can look at each other without
Money in our eyes and hatred in our smiles
Maybe one day we can all be fluent in love
And maybe one day you can forgive us
Thank you for giving us everything we needed
Maybe one day we'll realize was always more than enough
