Kira climbed into the car, not surprised this was happening. "Where are we moving to exactly?"
"We're going to Tennessee." Her mom didn't seem too happy. She seemed tense.
Tennessee was a place Kira's family has never been.
"Tennessee? Why there?"
Kira's mom shrugged her shoulders and continued to stare out the window. Kira didn't want this silence to go on.
"Did you pack all of my stuff?" But her mom seemed determined not to talk. She nodded slightly, never taking her eyes off the window. Kira sighed, but put in her earbuds. If her parents didn't want to talk, that was fine by her.
Kira woke up to the car hitting a bump in the road and jostling her awake.
"Mom," she yawned, "are we there yet?" Instead of her mom, her dad answered.
"No, not yet. We still have about 3 hours left. Go to sleep, you need your rest."
Kira curled up into a ball and looked out the window into the darkness. Trees lined the edges of the roads, pressing up to the very edge. You couldn't see anything past the first row of trees, for it was so dark out. She felt the car swerve and jerk with every turn, and Kira found it kind of comforting. She watched each tree roll by, as her eyelids drooped lower and lower, until they were closed. The rest of the night went by in a blur. Her father waking her up, walking her to their destination, the outline of the huge house, and her mother crying on her dad's shoulders.

Kira woke up to the sunlight streaming through her window. She stretched, taking a good look around. This was her new room, and she loved it. It was twice the size of her old bedroom, and had its own bathroom and walk-in closet. Kira could predict that the rest of the house would be amazing as well. She tried to remember the previous night, but it only came in bits and pieces. One thing she remembered, though, was her mom crying. She wanted to ask about that, but when the smell of bacon hit her, all thoughts she had disappeared.
Kira ran swiftly down the stairs and placed herself in a seat. Her mom walked over.
"How are you, Kira? Do you like the house so far?" Kira nodded as her mom dropped some scrambled eggs on her plate. Nothing beats scrambled eggs in the morning. Kira was taking a large forkful as her mom continued.
"Do you think you'll be finished unpacking so we can talk about what school to go to next year?"
"No,"
"Kirana, you can't avoid school forever. Now go start unpacking,"
Kira finished the rest of her eggs and slumped back to her room.
******************
Finally, Kira thought. She had just finished unpacking. It had taken her three hours, with many interruptions before completing. She flopped down on her bed, closing her eyes, as her mom called up,
"KIRA! WE'RE LEAVING TO GO SEE THE TOWN! COME ON DOWN!" Kira opened her eyes immediately and flew down the stairs. It was a tradition to go out and explore the town after you unpack, and it was her favorite part of moving. She could see all the nearby shops she could travel to, like the bookstore or the ice cream parler. Kira opened the car door, and sat down. Her mom started listing off different shops in the town. There was a couple chain restaurants, fancy restaurants, a toy store, a book store, a small petting zoo, and many more. When they got there, they went from store to store to see which ones were useful. Kira found that each store had its own personality, which she loved. The bookstore had a musty scent to it, with dimly lit lights. The toy store was all hustle and bustle, with loud shouts from kids, asking their parents for everything. She knew that she would have a lot of fun in Tennessee.

Hey guys!
I would've updated a couple hours ago, but some of the work I saved disappeared. I was so mad! But I wrote it again and here it is! Not as good as I would've hoped, but not bad nonetheless!
My next update will most likely be between Christmas and New Years, but I'm not sure entirely. It will be sooner than later though.
Please leave comments about the book, and if you find any mistakes, please let me know. Please also vote!Thank you, and merry Christmas!!
