Liam stared at her.
He stared at her shivering form, her reddened fingers strumming away at the strings of her guitar. He stared at the way she winced as each stranger walked past, but being able not to miss a single note. He stared at the way her glassy wide eyes darted from here to there, almost begging for someone to drop something into her guitar case. He watched as she suddenly stopped playing to wrap her tiny brown coat tighter around her shoulders as a biting cold gust of air hit her.
She looked so helpless, so defenseless. The cold night air bit into his skin, sending shivers down his spine, but he never turned away from the her. There was something about that strange girl that made his head spin, the thought of the poor thing alone at night, playing her guitar, and shivering in a thin little jacket.
Liam bit his lip and took a step forward, shoving his hands into the crevasses of his jacket pockets. It was only until he had gotten a good five feet in front of the girl that he suddenly realised that she was crying.
Sobs racked her entire body, the sound of her cries making Liam wince. He forced a smile and dropped twenty pounds into the case, watching for her reaction. Immediately she raised her face from her hands and stared up at Liam, her puffy, red eyes wide.
"You're good," Liam said, a small smile on the edge of his lips.
"T-Thank you," She whispered, staring down at the money briefly before bringing her eyes up to glance at Liam.
"Are you cold?" He asked, nodding his head towards a nearby coffee shop. The girl stared at him blankly for a moment before shaking her head slowly.
"N-No I'm fine."
Liam sighed, biting his lip. He knew for a fact that this girl was freezing. He half expected her to burst into tears again but she didn't. She just stared at him with her glassy eyes, scared of what he might do next.
"I should be going," The girl mumbled before bending down and shoving her guitar into the case. The wind picked back up again, blowing her whispy red hair around her shoulders as she shut the case.
Liam drew in a sharp breath as he watched the girl hurriedly shuffle down the sidewalk. He knew he should have stopped her, but he didn't. There was something in her voice that told him not to follow.
Sighing to himself, Liam turned around and made his way to the coffeeshop, deciding that a nice cup of joe might get the thought of that girl out of his head.
