Y/N watched as a flash of white flew past her, and she snarled in frustration as the young female, excited to be on her first Pack Hunt, ran forwards, trying to catch one of the elk the pack was chasing.
"Mina! We discussed this! Wait for the stragglers!" she barked at her underling.
Mina stopped, or at least tried to. She continued to slide a bit and rammed into a spot where the snow was piled just a little bit higher than normal, and almost comically she became buried under the pile of snow.
Y/N rolled her eyes, continuing on with chasing the elk. She glanced over to the pile of snow Mina was buried under, seeing that the white female was shaking her pelt off. She was quick to join back with the others.
Finally, one of the elk stumbled, and Y/N barked orders at a group of the trainee pack with their mentors to finish it off while she and the rest of the group got at least one more.
"Mina! Stop!" Y/N yelled, watching as her underling rushed forwards and bit one of the elk at the ankle. The elk, startled, kicked out, just barely missing Mina, and stumbling when it tried to continue running.
Y/N helped her out with finishing it off, and the rest of the trainees came over to help.
"Go take this back to the Tribe," she commanded everyone. She glanced over at Mina. "Not you."
The excitable snow-pelt pressed her ears against her head, realizing that she had pissed off her mentor. Once everyone was out of sight, Y/N glanced to her trainee before shaking her head and walking off. Mina walked behind her, head lowered.
"Mina, you can't be running off like that," she said, her voice holding a hint of a growl. "Do you realize how badly injured you could have been by that kick? Elk are powerful creatures."
Mina's tail twitched in frustration. "But you said-"
"I know what I said, Mina," Y/N muttered sourly. "When I said you need to 'take initiative' to be a Delta, I meant with orders, not by running into an elk hoof!"
Her snapping made Mina flinch back, pressing her ears to her fur once again, and Y/N sighed. She knew she shouldn't be so harsh on her underling. She motioned for Mina to walk beside her, and the younger female was quick to perk up at that.
"Go catch up to the rest of the trainees," she told Mina, brushing her white pelt with her nose affectionately. Mina's tail immediately shot into the air, and she leapt off through the snow to find her friends, but not before giving her mentor an appreciative lick on the cheek.
Before Mina left Y/N's sight, she paused, listening to the howl that could surely be heard into other territories. Y/N immediately recognized that it was her father calling for her. She nodded to Mina, telling her to continue, and began to make her way over to the den her father and his most trusted friends resided in.

"If I had known there would be this many visitors I would have had the Gammas take down another elk or two," Y/N said, entering the cave to find at least five other wolves. Their scents stank of burning pine and slight cinnamon, showcasing that they were from the Red Tribe, and proud of it, too, judging by how strong the scent was.
Seeing that they were all in their two-legged forms, she shifted as well in order to make herself seem less defensive around them.
"There will be no need, pup," the clear leader of the group spoke, looking her over. His ears flicked back, obviously satisfied with whatever he had been looking for. "We have eaten plenty before entering the territory. Your generosity is appreciated."
Y/N relaxed, her tail swaying behind her, brushing dirt away as it did so.
"These are the Selsas that will be taking you to the Red Tribe tomorrow. They'll be staying tonight, and you will all leave by daybreak," Y/N's father explained. Y/N bowed slightly to the Selsas. "You should go and say your goodbyes now."
"I didn't realize that I would be leaving so soon," Y/N said. "I thought I would at least be able to finish training my underling."
"Well, spring is going to be coming soon, and if you are to be mated with Endeavor's eldest, you will want to have your pups in the spring for the best chance of their survival."
Despite being put off by the talk of having pups so soon before she was even mated, Y/N nodded and left the cave, already heading to the den where the Gamma trainees stayed.
It was just a weeping willow, with unusually thick foliage that reached all the way to the ground and acted as a sort of a wall. As she stepped through, she was immediately greeted with multiple yips.
Mina's head shot up, and she looked over to Y/N, bounding over to her mentor almost immediately. She shifted into her two-legged form as she reached Y/N, pushing the pink hair- which didn't match her pelt- out of her eyed.
"C'mon," Y/N said, motioning for her to follow as she left the den. Her underling followed, curious.
"I'm leaving tomorrow," Y/N explained. Mina stopped.
"You... You're leaving?" Mina asked, sounding disbelieving.
"Yeah," she sighed. "I know it's... sudden... But Aizawa will be assigning you a new mentor soon. He's already aware of what's happening, so you'll probably be getting a new mentor before your next pack hunt. Don't give them too much trouble, alright?"
Mina's ears flattened and she looked away. Y/N sighed and shifted into her wolf form, crouching down. Mina looked surprised for a moment before grinning and shifting, too.
Y/N jumped at Mina, grabbing one of her ears and yanking on it, not enough to hurt but enough to be playful. Mina gasped and tried to pull her ear away, tugging at it. Y/N released her ear, and Mina tumbled back a couple steps. She growled playfully and jumped at Y/N, who allowed her to knock her over.
They got stares from multiple of the wolves who were outside of the dens despite the snow, but neither cared. Y/N just wanted to make the most of the time she had before leaving.
