As Y/N kept between the pack of warriors, she spotted a couple of yearling bison playing. Her instincts kicked in, and she slowed down, watching them. They would be an easy catch.

She stopped herself from running at them, reminding herself of how she had left the Moonlit Tribe's territory not long ago.

"Well, young Delta, are you gonna show us what you're made of or not?" the lead Selsa asked, urging her to continue. "We could all use a quick meal, since we won't get to the dens until full sun."

"I wouldn't want to hunt on your territory," she said, lifting her head up and looking away from the bison, despite her Delta instincts telling her to never look away from her catch. "I am not a full member of your Tribe yet."

"You will be soon," the Selsa reminded her. "And so long as I give you permission and watch you, you are allowed. Now, we've heard you're quite the Delta, so we'd be willing to listen to your commands. It would be easier as a pack, correct?"

Y/N nodded, not expecting to be given this level of control. Immediately, she began ordering the Selsas around. They weren't Deltas, or even Gammas, so they didn't have as much experience hunting as the hunter ranks did, but they'd do if they were able to listen to instructions.

She began to walk closer to her prey once everyone else was in position, and kept low to the ground. With a bark, she began chasing after the bison, leading them to where the rest of the makeshift hunt pack was. Everyone jumped on the slowest of the small herd, and almost immediately it was dead.

As they began eating, the lead Selsa grunted. "You did well," he told her. "If you can turn even these lot into semi successful Gammas, you must be good at hunting strategy." He received a few glares from the Selsas around him, but he chuckled good-naturedly.

"Well, for Selsas with no actual experience hunting, you did fairly well," she said, teasingly.

One of the Selsas snorted. "You say that as if hunting is harder," she said.

"Because it is. Fighting needs no actual brains, but with hunting you need to have a strategy, instead of just using your teeth and claws," she said, looking away and licking blood off of her paw once she had finished eating.

"Hunting is just fighting against other animals. If anything, Selsas go through harder training in order to be able to fight against wolves," the same Selsa said.

Y/N was about to retort, but she heard a strange noise coming from the sky and looked up to see something gliding through it, circling them. She watched curiously, having never seen anything like it before.

"Don't pay much attention to it," the lead told her. "That's just the bird that the Peltless use to patrol the territory. They always watch us, but never do anything about it."

"Lazy lot if you ask me," one of the others grumbled. "Even if the territory did belong to them, they don't have the guts to fight for it."

"Peltless?" Y/N questioned. "I thought those were stories the Elders told us about to scare us off from going out of the dens when we were younger."

"I thought so, too, lass," one of the Selsas sighed. "Unfortunately, they've been showing up on our territory lately, with strange devices. They usually keep away, but of they get too close they're quick to scare off."

"We are only allowed to transform in shelter, now, because one of them saw Thunderous tranform once when we were patrolling, and they killed her before lugging her away, yapping angrily in their strange language."

"I- I'm sorry..." Y/N didn't know what it was like to lose a Tribemate so suddenly, which she was thankful for, but she still felt remorse over a Tribemate she would never even get to meet.

"We should start heading on again," the lead announced. "Leave the carcas for scavengers. We need to get going if we want to make it to the den area before full sun."

Y/N nodded and stood up, shaking out her fur. She glanced up one more time, looking at the bird again, and followed the Selsas.

The sun was all the way up at the highest point in the sky by the time they had reached the Red Tribe's den area. It was much more open than she was used to, and she felt more than just a little vulnerable.

All over wolves quieted down to watch as the outsider entered their den area. Rarely did outsiders ever come into a Tribe's den areas, unless they were trespassers, so people were understandably curious, especially when they saw how relaxed the Selsas around her looked.

The Selsas disbanded except for the lead, and she was lead up to the Alpha's den, and when she walked in she was immediately greeted by a curious golden wolf, who had some red markings on his shoulder blades. He circled around her and the lead, sniffing at her ankles every once in a while.

"Hawks, go get Endeavor," the Selsa ordered.

Hawks picked his head up, looking lazily to the lead. "You can't blame me for being so curious about the newbie, Lightning. It's not everyday we get someone who's looking to join our ranks. And such a pretty she-wolf, at that."

Lightning pinned his ears back. "Quit fratrenizing with her, and go get the Alpha! You know as well as I do that she's already set to be mated with Dabi, so stop flirting unless you want Endeavor ripping your pelt off!"

Hawks rolled his eyes before trotting further into the cave. Lightning sat down and curled his tail around himself, so Y/N followed suit.

"Endeavor can be intimidating," Lightning told her, his tail lightly brushing at the ground. "I just wanted you to know that. Unless you do something to get on his nerves, though, he's a fair Alpha and he protects his Tribe. Even then the wort punishment he ever gave out was for one of the Omegas to go hunt by herself."

"I don't know why my Tri-" She cut herself off before she could say her tribe, knowing that the Moonlit Tribe was no longer her home. "I don't see why the Moonlit Tribe holds such a grudge against the Red Tribe. It seems plenty fair, unlike the tales I was told as a pup."

Lightning sighed. "When I was a pup, we were always told the tale of Bloodmoon, a tyrannical Alpha who ruled over the Red Tribe. In fact, it was because of him that we were named the Red Tribe. He tried to take over all the Tribes, but the one that got the worst of his wrath was the Moonlit Tribe. Because of it, Moonlits have held a grudge for generations. We are hoping that the union between yourself and Dabi will help bring the two together again."

Y/N looked down at her paws, and went to speak again, but before she could, she was interrupted by the low, gruff voice of the Red Tribe's Alpha.

"Good, you're here."
